Where did you struggle?
Over the course of the year I had trouble with having good time management during school work and home work. With sports and after school activity I was always struggling to make time for our weekly backlog .And in school I would struggle to get my in class work done usually having to add it into my homework.
Another area I struggled in was group work with our last 2 exhibitions. With our last few exhibitions we had assigned groups which are for me, usually pretty hard to work with. In our Science exhibition I had a really good group with 2 of my friends but then we had another person join and he didn't help us with our slides, posters, or research which left a lot of weight on me and my other 2 group members. I had to skip SIG’s 3 times to work on our slides and research and in the end had to make and refine his stuff as he didn't want to do it. Personally I spent 10 hours of my own time during SIG’s and after school which was a lot of pressure. And with our most recent exhibition I got a group I wasn't quite fond of. But I knew that life isn't fair and you will always have to work with difficult people. But in the end it wasn't the group that was the problem, it was that none of them were much help. One of my group members didn't do anything, the other barely showed up and the other took credit for all of my hard work which was really aggravating and really took a toll on me since I worked so hard on something that no one even thought was mine.
Where did you shine?
Over this school year I shone in different places in my different classes. In the Humanities. I did the best with annotations, cornell notes. In ELA I did the best with writing specifically stories that are free write prompts. With math on the other hand I never really shone at one topic but if I had to choose it would probably be my summative assessments. And finally with science, I did best with presentations mostly group based ones and my annotations which I started getting exceeded on.
What are you proud of?
Some things that I'm proud of from this year are my annotations, Cornell notes, my multimedia story and video, IXL’s, CER’s. I’m proud of all of these things for various reasons, the main one being because I use all 4 habits of Heart and Mind to the max on all of these!
What could you have done differently?
Something I wish I did differently this year is my focus and dedication to assignments. Over the course of this year I had a lot of trouble focusing in class when teachers were talking or while important work needed to be done. I also had trouble with actually dedicating to assignments but towards the end of the year I got better at actually doing my work.
The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness.
A feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.
1st Claim:
At the beginning of the year, I demonstrated this lens by staying true to myself even when other people wanted me to change or tried to make me change.
I understood this lens to mean “ knowing who you are”
Evidence:
Describe at least one piece of specific evidence that proves your claim. Describe the assignment, activity, assessment, or experience. How does this piece of evidence demonstrate that you have developed this lens?
One example of me using this lens was at the very beginning of the year. A lot of my friends and classmates were moving schools and I was being persuaded by them to go which put a lot of pressure on me since I wasn't sure if I wanted to switch or not. And I was actually considering it as I had a lot of homework and some troubles with a teacher but in the end I looked at the pros and cons of moving and the pros and cons of staying and in the end I felt like I liked Mountain enough to stay, so I did.
2nd Claim:
By the end of this year, I have realized that Identity doesn't just mean knowing who you are but more knowing who you are as a person, what you like and staying true to that because you are your own unique self and you don't have to change that for or because of someone.
Evidence:
Describe at least one piece of specific evidence that proves your claim. Describe the assignment, activity assessment, or experience. How does this piece of evidence demonstrate that you have developed this lens?
One example of me using this new lens was when I left my sport. Throughout most of 7th grade I was doing gymnastics. And last year in 6th grade I competed competitively until I blew at my knee at competition and ended up having to go to PT. And while I was doing PT I continued doing gymnastics and ended up injuring my other knee. So then going into this gymnastics season I had two injured knees and didn't know if I could continue but in the end I ended up continuing gymnastics but didn't compete. But then over the past few months I had been getting really bored with gymnastics and just didn't want to go anymore and I was ready to quit but my best friend really didn't want me too but in the end I just couldn't keep doing it so I ended up quitting.
So this experience shows how even though others tried to persuade me to make my choice I stayed true to myself and chose what I wanted to do.
he fact of being who or what a person or thing is.
