The 8th grade lens is Impact.

At the beginning of the year, Impact meant the effect we have on the people around us, and the things we do that will cause effects on our future, that are  usually big impacts.

At the beginning of the year, I demonstrated this lens by impacting others in my life.

For example, I impacted the kids I teach during devo, they are super little, but I try to make their practice fun and maybe even teach them new things.

This is my purpose map. We made it in purpose learning class to showcase what is important to us in life.

Here are some examples of what I wrote about in my map:

• Daily practices: fanning about motorcycles

• Communities and values: DEVO

The purpose statement I developed through this map is: My purpose is to analyze situations thoroughly so I can provide useful help to others

Some goals I have for the future to help me achieve this statement are:

• Separate facts: List facts versus assumptions on your next three projects.

• Block reflection time: Spend 15 minutes every Friday reviewing complex situations.

• Listen first: Summarize what others say before offering your advice.

• Make templates: Create two simple checklists to help others solve problems.

• Ask for feedback: Ask two people this week if your advice helped.
