I-ready beginning of the year (BOY) reflection
My overall grade level and score was in 8th grade, with a score of 641, which is slightly above where I'm supposed to be.
I scored in the 78th percentile, which again I believe is good.
I scored the highest in Phonics and High-Frequency words, surpassing the grade level in both of them, while I got the lowest in Comprehension: Literature, with an early 8th grade level.
By the end of this year, I want to be in grade late 9th, and mid 10th. I will do this by reading more, and focusing on slowing down when I do.
This socratic seminar went well, with loads of information about racism and wrong accusations, aloong with many other heavy topics. On the written assignment, I got a meets plus, which is good in my opinion, but it could be better. On the seminar itself, I got an exceeds, which I'm very happy with, and I thought I had good information about the topic. Next Socratic seminar, I want to get an exceeds on both parts, instead of just the one.
With this project, we have only started, and are gathering information. I'm going to be talking about racial profiling and arrests, and we will turn google research into documents, documents into scripts, and scripts into TED Talks.
In class, we've been reading Just Mercy and relating it to topics we learn about in class. We have a document we call "Just Mercy Reader's Log" where we summarize the chapters, and find examples of injustices throughout the book.
