Exhibition: Earth Rocks!
We are working on a project about geology including rock layers of our reigion. My goal for science is to: Learn more about space and know the process of how the planets are made.
I forgot what this was.
In this project we used gram crackers, icing, rice crispy treats, and chocolate chips to represent the techtonic plates under the Earths surface.
I researched the Grand Canyon and learned that it was formed completely by erosion.
My reflection on the exhibition is that I learned a lot and that I met my expectations. The on thing I would’ve liked to do better on would be my group work grade. Overall, the exhibition itself went well and that I did good memorizing my script. I feel that my part of the build was good. The rock layers part was good, even though I was gone for most of it. All in all, I think I did pretty good in our first 6th grade exhibition.
Project 2: Space Odyssey
This one pager will show facts about Mars and tell the listeners what the exhibition is about.
The Space Odyssey exhibition was an interactive presentation of a planet that we would research, and I researched Mars. Our space exhibition (which in my opinion, was the best exhibition so far), went very well and I felt very confident about the subject. Although I felt like I had everything down, the parents were not very interested in our exhibition subject, and started to give us “information about Mars and what it really looked like.” I learned about the vacuum seal of gravity and the planet we might one day be inhabiting; Mars. We all put a little bit into creating our model, and it ended up being really good. I don’t think I did good on my presentation skills, because I didn’t say very much, and I didn’t feel that I had proper sentences. I felt like our first group was listening and really into the subject and the game, but our second group wasn’t interested in the game or the subject, and was giving us, I quote: “Um, fun fact…” so, I didn’t feel like we had an interesting subject or activity in our game. I felt a lot like I had learned much more about Mars than I had before we started our space exhibition. I love space and everything in it, but after this exhibition, I love it even more now. In general I felt that I had done a very good job on our exhibition, and I hope we have more exhibitions on this subject.
Project: Environmental Action plan
Reflection
Our mini-exhibition was pretty fun and I learned a lot. The thing Tobin and I researched was the Ozone layer and the carbon footprint humans are leaving. I learned that the Ozone is not effected by burning fossil fuels or when fossil fuels reached the atmosphere, but when they get stuck in the ozone and the UV rays from the Sun turn them into toxic gas that eats away at our Earth’s ozone. I feel me and my team member did pretty well, and the short amounts of time that we did get off-track, we would remind each other to get back on track. I created a donation website that helped the reptiles all over Colorado that are being killed by burning fossil fuels. So far we have raised 100 dollars to help stopping fossil fuels being burned in Durango Colorado. You could be a part of the cause and donate to help the reptiles! Link to donation website above.
