habits of heart and mind rubric

internships:

i interned at Puppy Love boarding Kennels, i got to spend my week learning how boarding kennels worked and how the employee's complete all of there position assigned tasks. Puppy love is Basically like a hotel for pets, they provide overnight boarding, feeding, and grooming. while i was there i learned a lot about how a work environment looks like, and what its like to work with other people. throughout the week i spent most of my time working with Kennel Tech's. the Kennel Tech’s spend their shifts letting the dogs out, feeding, and cleaning. they also work up front to prepare for dogs coming in later, and they will set up runs for them. while I was there i just kinda picked up a few things, like better ways to carry a dog, how to handle an antsy or riled up dog. and the way i bathe my dogs is different now. i also learned how to file the tips the groomers get from each service based off of receipts (ect). i interned at puppy love because i figured it would give me an oppurtunity to put my love for dogs into a job and see about a job at a boarding kennel in the future, this goal checked out because i really enjoyed my intership and how i was able to be engaged with the dogs, and i was even offered a summer time job. plus conversations with staff have inspired me to consider a career as an animal physician.

Respect-

My goal in respect for this year is to commit to working well with all my partners, keeping quiet during lectures, and being respectful towards my teacher Being careful about choosing a seat in which I may be tempted to talk with others.

The difference these actions will make is

I will increase my knowledge in my school work. Others will know that I am actually accomplishing my goal because I will be calm and focused on who is speaking.

some examples that i have shown of me showing respect so far this year, are being able to show respect to my teachers like while there giving lectures or teaching me something i do not undersand, listening and not interupting. another example of respect is being able to try and be kinder to others. this one is something I'm getting better at but its kinda more like a goal for right now i could definetely work on being a little kinder to my fellow students.

integrity

my goal for Integrity is, I will commit to taking accounting for my mistakes, and fixing them no matter academic or normal others will know i met this goal when they see me exceeding my self standard. The difference this will make is i will grow self confidence and become more productive.

some examples of me showing respect are is situations like being able to hold myself accountable and own up to my actions, also just doing things that I dont want to do because its the right thing. and also being able to notice when im being rude or when im in the wrong and fixing it.

effort

My goal for Effort is:

My goal for effort is to devote to my school work, work hard to keep a well attendance and work with all my goals accomplishing putting my effort into trying hard and working to meet my goals raise myself academically and be respectful. I will be more confident in academics and i will have steady organized work.

some examples of me showing effort are like dedicating to my work like my anchor charts and specifically my science, humanities, and art schoolwork. and working really hard to be there for my friends and just making sure that i can be there when i can.

refinement

A goal i have for refinement is to work on noticing my grades or academic flaws and working with myself to refine. Others will know I've met this goal when they see me working hard and having pride in my grades and effort. I will be more confident on my work and will be more efficient and productive. Others will know that I am actually accomplishing my goal because I will be quiet and focused on whomever is speaking. They will see that I have my eyes on the speaker. They will also notice that I am not distracting my peers and the learning environment at inappropriate times. Quieter Learning Environment. The difference these actions will make is, I will increase my learning. will learn when it is cool to chat with friends and when to stay focused on the speaker. Others will be able to increase their learning due to less distractions. I may have more free time if I am using my time more wisely.

some examples ive shown for refinement this year so far have been in areas like refining my effort in my art class or working harder to understand certain topics in my math class. ive shown refinement in other areas as well such as trying to refine myself as a person and the way i act and trying to be more selfless in genral.

resume

we wrote our resumes to turn in to our internship preferences. and we had help writing these in class so that we would be more prepared when the time came for internships. this assignment taught me a lot about how to format in a well and neat way, and it also taught me a little bit more about how to use action words to make writing seem more formal or impressive. my final grade on the resume was an overall meets, but one thing that i knew i missed and plan on refining that was commented on was just adding the phone numbers and Emails to my references section.
