Mrs. Mergens

      Welcome First Grade Families!

My name is Diane Mergens and this will be my 32nd year of teaching at Turtle Lake Elementary.  I LOVE teaching!  It is such a joy to get to know each child and their family.  It is an absolute privilege to foster a love for learning and be an important part of each of my student's educational experience.

My husband, Mike, and I have a son, Matthew, and a daughter, Rachel.  Matthew is 26 years old, a graduate of Bethel University, and is now attending medical school. Rachel is 22 years old and recently graduated from the University of MN-Duluth.  This year she begins her graduate work for speech pathology. In my spare time I treasure the time with my family, and enjoy reading, playing piano, taking walks, gardening, and baking.  When we are all together as a family we love to travel, attend broadway shows and sporting events.  

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethel University in Elementary Education and Psychology.  My Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction was received from the University of St. Thomas. 

I look forward to getting to know each of YOU!  First grade is a fantastic year, full of so much fun and learning,  and I'm so happy you are in my class!  See you soon!
