Mathematics
In seventh grade math, students will further develop their understanding of rates and ratios, using tables, graphs, and equations to solve real-world problems involving proportional relationships. Additionally, students will expand their knowledge of geometry, including surface area and volume. The use of algebra will be furthered through two step equations and inequalities.
Add./subt. Integers and rational numbers. Mult./div. Integers and rational numbers. Equations with integers
Proportional tables and graphs, constant of proportionality, and creating proportional equations.
Combining like terms before solving, two-step equations, angle relationships to create and solve equations
Problem solving with circumference and area of circles. Area of triangles, parallelograms, and trapezoids. Surface area of prisms, cylinders, and pyramids. Volume of prisms and cylinders.
Percent increase, decrease, percent of change, percent error, simple interest, tax, commission, and fees
Science
In seventh grade science, students will review the Scientific Method. A study of animal structures and resources will be the basis for a larger study on how all living things interact with the environment. A classification of animals unit will further help with the understanding of the enviornment's impact on living organisms. Seventh graders will also explore force, motion, and astronomy concepts. Finally, students in seventh grade will study the effects of Earth's interior forces.
