Professional Learning
Professional Learning
MTIP provides a range of options for our candidates to continue their learning journey. This includes attending in-person meetings, participating in self-paced webinars, and joining virtual sessions. Surveys are used to understand candidate’s specific learning interests and needs for the year. Topics are aligned to the CSTP, the candidate’s ILP, and the inquiry process. Additionally, candidates receive training within their school or district. The district's Educational Services department offers ongoing training opportunities that support teaching throughout the entire year.
MTIP mentors provide professional learning opportunities that candidates self-select in order to support in meeting their professional learning goals. Guided by a candidate’s ILP Plan Section, candidates embark on professional learning opportunities with a focus on developing as an educator throughout their focus inquiry cycle. Candidates attend and log a minimum of six learning opportunities each year. Professional learning opportunities can be either virtual or in-person, and may involve activities such as observing experienced teachers, participating in webinars, attending workshops, or taking university courses.
Moreover, MTIP actively promotes and supports educators in becoming integral members of the broader learning community within the teaching profession. This can entail attending conferences, becoming active members of professional organizations, or making use of online resources like webinars and video meetings. This broader engagement offers educators the chance to connect with peers, exchange ideas, and further enrich their professional development.
