The Counseling Department is here to help support students and families. Our top priority is the health, safety, and well-being of every Lion and their family.

Vision
Monroe Elementary School students will realize their academic, career, and social-emotional potential through collaborative learning, critical and creative thinking. Monroe students are lifelong learners who possess the knowledge and skills necessary to be effective communicators, problem solvers, empathetic listeners, and respectful citizens who are successful in their future endeavors.
Mission
Monroe Elementary School provides a comprehensive school counseling program that empowers and advocates for all students to reach their maximum potential through equitable, collaborative, and innovative learning. The program focuses on academic, social-emotional, and career development within a supportive and nurturing environment. All students are provided equitable access to developmentally appropriate lessons and data-driven counseling services enabling them to become successful members of our community and global society.

What Do School Counselors Do?
School counselors help all students:
apply academic achievement strategies
manage emotions and apply interpersonal skills
plan for postsecondary options (higher education, military, work force)
School Counselor Duties
Appropriate duties include providing:
individual student academic planning and goal setting
school counseling classroom lessons based on student success standards
short-term counseling to students
referrals for long-term support
collaboration with families/teachers/administrators/community for student success
advocacy for students at individual education plan meetings and other student-focused meetings
data analysis to identify student issues, needs and challenges
acting as a systems change agent to improve equity and access, achievement and opportunities for all students
