Parent/Child Activities

Research shows that when schools partner with families, and parents take an active role as their child's first and most important teacher, students succeed.

1302.51(a)(1) of the Head Start Program Performance Standards state that A program must promote shared responsibility with parents for children's early learning and development, and implement family engagement strategies that are designed to foster parental confidence and skills in promoting children's learning and development by offering activities that support parent-child relationships and child development including language, dual language, literacy, and bi-literacy development as appropriate.

One way the Early Head Start and Head Start Programs work with families in supporting their child's educational growth at home, is designing new and individualized parent/child activities, monthly. The activities are based on your child's individual child development goals you have set with your child's teacher. Individual Child School Readiness Goals: These goals are specific to your individual child's needs. Goals will be adjusted a minimum of 3 times annually.

Recommended Activities: These activities were carefully designed by your child's teacher to assist them in meeting one or more of their Individualized Child Development Goals (mentioned above). These are the actual activities we are asking that you complete with your child at home. New activities will be developed by your child's teacher monthly.
