School Climate Team Initiatives
Special Delivery Folder
If you have a student who just needs a break (a time to just walk around and reset) then you can give them the “special delivery folder.” You can ask them to take it to another staff member. That staff member will automatically know that this child just needed a break out of the classroom or needed a positive adult interaction because the special delivery folder is the signal for that break.
When a student brings you a folder, please take one paper from the folder and give the folder back to the child to return back to their homeroom teacher.
Staff Coupons
At the end of each month, ALL staff member names will be placed into a drawing to win Staff Coupons! Six names will be selected each month to win prizes such as a jeans day, vending machine item, or even a 30 minute break! The winners will be announced over the loudspeaker by Mrs. Mignoli at the end of each month so be sure to listen closely!
Lunch Bunch
Lunch Bunch is a socially facilitated lunch that includes the integrated general education & special education population. We are introducing this initiative as part of our commitment to building positive connections among and between students/ staff in a non-academic & socially based setting.
Mill Lake Mentors
Volunteers would meet once a month during their lunch to chat, play a game, etc. As a mentor, you would be an adult role model and a source of friendship & encouragement. Volunteers will be matched with students in their grade, who were identified by their classroom teachers as needing a little extra support.
