Final Record/Ranking: 6-4, National Division Champions, Qualified for Group 2 State Playoffs

MVP this season: Every week we had a complete team effort, and it took every player on the team to accomplish what we did this season

Seniors Interviewed: Nelson Harris (V) Aiden Rea (V)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory from this season was the win against Keyport and the pinelands game. I feel like I played my heart out in both of those games and we won those games because I used my brother's injury as fuel to win and be the best player I can be. (Nelson Harris)

My favorite memory this year was winning the division and being able to play in a states game. (Aiden Rea)

What will you miss most about playing football at MRHS?

The thing I'm going to miss most about playing would be the boys. I’ve only been at Monmouth for 2 years now and they’ve grown a lot on me and I really wouldn’t want to play high school football with any other team other than them. (Nelson Harris)

I will miss being with the people who have helped me get better over the past 4 years and I'm grateful to have everyone who was with us through it all. (Aiden Rea)

Are you pursuing football after high school?

I plan to pursue football in college. I’m currently trying to get my grades up so I can send them to coaches at different schools. I’m working on my highlight reel to show them as well so hopefully, I get to play at that next level. (Nelson Harris)

I am not gonna play football after high school but I definitely am gonna miss playing it. It was a very fun experience (Aiden Rea)

Junior Interviewed: Ta'haj Wiggins (V)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory was watching how happy everyone was when we won our division (Ta'haj Wiggins)

What is your goal for next season? (for yourself and/or the team)

My goal for next season is to take it to the next level. The job is not finished. The team and I will be working even harder during this off season to get 100% better. We are tired of teams disrespecting us, so I think it’s time to prove them wrong. (Ta'haj Wiggins)

What are your thoughts considering next season will be your last season playing football at MRHS?

Of course I’m not so happy with it being my last year, but if it is why not make it a great one. Ta'haj Wiggins)

Sophomore Interviewed: Jaden Reevey-Summers (V)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory from this season was the keyport game when we won the division. (Jaden Reevey-Summers)

What is your goal for next season? (for yourself and/or the team)

My goals for next year are to carry on what the seniors setup for us and have another successful season. (Jaden Reevey-Summers)

What is your favorite part of playing football for Monmouth?

My favorite part of playing football for Monmouth is the balance we have between having fun and also being serious when we need to be. (Jaden Reevey-Summers)

Freshman Interviewed: Andew Smith (Freshman)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory would be getting out there to play. We did have a team of about 14-15 people on the team. (Andew Smith)

What is your goal for next season? (for yourself and/or the team)

My goal for next season is probably to get better. I think most of us who were on the team don’t want to recap our first season. (Andew Smith)

What are your thoughts considering this was your first season playing high school level football?

My thoughts were I think we played hard, most of the kids on the team never played before. We could’ve won a couple of those games we lost. But to end it I think this season was fun. (Andew Smith)


Boy’s Soccer


Final Record/Ranking: 10-5-6. “Great Season made it to both the Second round of the Shore Conference Tournament and State Tournament only losing in penalty kicks in both.”

Head Coach: Darren Spadavecchia

Favorite Memory of this Season: Is playing Ocean Township, being down 1-0 in the first half and Arturo Reyes playing like an animal in the second half and scoring 2 goals to win the game.

MVP this season: Chris Theobald is my team leader, his constant dedication and willingness to make players around him was a huge part of this season.

Goal(s) for Next Season: It will be a rebuilding year, and our goal is to be the best we can and be able to compete at a high level.

Best/Proudest Accomplishment this Season: Except for a few games we competed in all the games and left everything we had on the field.

Message to the Seniors: The coaches would like to thank the seniors for 4 years of hard work and dedication, you have to have a lot of dedication to play a sport for 4 years and I truly appreciate them.

Senior Interviewed: Chris Theobold (V)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

Monmouth vs Ocean this year was my most memorable experience. The game was great, we won 2-1 after being down 1-0 . The student sections in the game were crazy. All the fans went into the game and made it one of my coolest high school experiences. (Chris Theobold)

What will you miss most about playing soccer at MRHS?

I will miss the environment that I was in, the feels of winning on the field, and playing with friends. (Chris Theobold)

Are you pursuing soccer after high school?

I’m not going to pursue soccer anymore, I had a great time with it but it’s my time to move on. (Chris Theobold)

Junior Interviewed: Matteo Casalinuovo (V)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory this season has to be when we beat Ocean. I had one job that game, to make sure Ocean’s best player didn’t score and I made that happen. There were a ton of kids at the game and when we won, we ran over and hyped our student section up. Also the Ocean’s student section was talking trash the whole game so it felt really good to win. What is your goal for next season? (for yourself and/or the team)

My goal for next season is to come back really strong since I am hurt right now with an acl tear. I wanna come back better than I was before. As for the team, I want us to win a state championship. We haven’t won one in a while and it would be great to make that happen. (Matteo Casalinuovo)

What are your thoughts considering next season will be your last season playing soccer at MRHS?

I am pretty sad that next year is my last year playing for Monmouth. I had a great 3 years so far and I don't want it to come to an end. There was so many great memories. I want to end my high school career by winning a state championship for the school. (Matteo Casalinuovo)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory this year is going out to eat with the team. (Anthony Cano)

Freshman Interviewed: Anthony Jimendez (JV and Freshman)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

Favorite moments were just being around people I loved to play with on the team. (Anthony Jimendez)

What is your goal for next season? (for yourself and/or the team)

Goal for next season is to have a much better performance in my position. (Anthony Jimendez)

What are your thoughts considering this was your first season playing high school level soccer?

I think I could have played much better in my position and wish to have played a more successful season. (Anthony Jimendez)

Girl’s Soccer

Final Record/Ranking: Varsity: 3-14 / 0-6 in Shore - A Central

Head Coach: Devon Williams

Favorite Memory of this Season: I have a few favorite memories from this last season. I loved when Julia Biasi scored a hat trick. I loved the bus ride home when the whole team was singing every Adele song at the top of their lungs. And I really enjoyed our banquet this year to celebrate our seniors.

MVP this season: Kaitlyn Spence would be our MVP this year. She was really important in leading our team and was a key player.

Goal(s) for Next Season: Our goal is always to get better. For next season, it is to build off this year. We had a young team this year and I would love to see that potential turn into something great.

Best/Proudest Accomplishment this Season: I’m proud of the young group we had this year. We had 5 freshmen and 4 sophomores varsity players who worked hard and made our team more competitive.

Message to the Seniors: I’m so grateful to this senior group of girls. They were my first group of freshmen as a head coach at Monmouth and it’s been so wonderful getting to know them all. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. I’m very proud of each one of them and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them. I do know though that this senior group of girls is a force to be reckon with and will change the world someday! #gofalcons

Senior Interviewed: Caitlin Keane (V)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory this season was definitely senior night! After years of watching my favorite seniors have theirs, I finally had mine. All my teammates put a lot of effort into making it so special and I’m so grateful! (Caitlin Keane)

What will you miss most about playing soccer at MRHS?

Although I’m looking forward to moving on, I’ll miss the bus rides to away games with all the girls where someone was always playing loud music. But I think I’ll miss playing soccer with my sister the most. This was the first year we ever got to play on the same team and it was a nice way to end my four years on varsity. (Caitlin Keane)

Are you pursuing soccer after high school?

In the future, I hope to join a club soccer team where I could have both a competitive and fun experience at whichever college I attend. (Caitlin Keane)

Junior Interviewed: Allie Wassman (V)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory from this season was blasting Adele on the way home from our game against Raritan. Everyone was singing and having a good time despite it being our last game together. (Allie Wassman)

What is your goal for next season? (for yourself and/or the team)

My goal for next season is to be a good leader and role model to the incoming freshman and current underclassmen. As a team, I hope that we can have a great team dynamic and finish with a good record. (Allie Wassman)

What are your thoughts considering next season will be your last season playing soccer at MRHS?

It’s still really weird for me to think that I’ll be a senior next year. I still remember showing up to my first practice freshman year and feeling so scared but excited and also thinking that the seniors were so much older. It’s crazy to think that’ll be me next year. I’m excited to finish my Monmouth soccer career off on a high note and introduce a new group of freshmen to our family. (Allie Wassman)

Sophomore Interviewed: Sophia Alonso (V)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite soccer memory is the 2 claps before going onto the field. (Sophia Alonso)

What is your goal for next season? (for yourself and/or the team)

My personal goal for next season is to work on my right foot and my team goal is to keep the same bond we have with all the girls. (Sophia Alonso)

What is your favorite part of playing soccer for Monmouth?

My favorite part of playing soccer for Monmouth is again the bond with all the girls. No matter if we win or lose we always have good energy and bring eachother up 24/7. (Sophia Alonso)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory from the season is getting ready before games in the locker room. (Katie Parent)

Cheer

What was your favorite memory from this year?

My favorite memory is the fun bus rides to away games. (Starr Brown)

What will you miss most about cheering at MRHS?

What I’m going to miss about Monmouth cheer is the bond I made with the girls in the team and all of our fun traditions. Going to the games and even practices. (Starr Brown)

Are you pursuing cheer after high school?

I am gonna continue cheering after high school, but I’ll never forget being a falcon and will always be one at heart. (Starr Brown)

Sophomore Interviewed: Nia Clark (V)

What was your favorite memory from this year?

My favorite memory from this year was definitely the pep rally, it was nice having some kind of normality after a year of covid restrictions. (Nia Clark)

What is your goal for next year? (for yourself and/or the team)

My goal next year for myself is to work to the best of my ability to be the best athlete I can be, and for the team to continue to bond with each other and feel like a family. (Nia Clark)

What is your favorite part of cheering for Monmouth?

My favorite part of cheering for Monmouth is being able to bring as much school spirit as possible to the school since we’ve been lacking it due to last year’s school year. (Nia Clark)

What was your favorite memory from this year?

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory from this past season was during a game at Holmdel. The announcer couldn’t get the National Anthem to play, so both teams started singing it the whole way through. (Alex Parent)

What is your goal for next season? (for yourself and/or the team)

My goal for next season for myself is to grow as a defender because I just learned it this season. I also hope to score more goals. For my team, my only goals are that we can continue to grow our bonds and work together to have an awesome season. (Alex Parent)

What are your thoughts considering next season will be your last season playing field hockey at MRHS?

It’s really crazy that it’s already been 3 years of playing field hockey. I am actually really excited to finish off my last season with a new position and my teammates. Of course it’s a bit upsetting thinking about it, but I plan to make it my best season. (Alex Parent)

Sophomore Interviewed: Gianna Cavalluzzi (V)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory this season was definitely scoring my first varsity goal and all of our bus rides to the away games. (Gianna Cavalluzzi)

What is your favorite part of playing field hockey for Monmouth?

Freshman Interviewed: Marissa Herman (V)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory from the season was having a big party and we all just came together as one big family. (Marissa Herman)

My goal for next season is to talk more on the field and for everyone else to communicate more. (Marissa Herman)

What are your thoughts considering this was your first season playing high school level field hockey?

Playing field hockey on the high school level is very challenging because you really have to go into it with confidence and trust the process and really communicate with your coach. (Marissa Herman)

Girl’s Tennis

Head Coach: Al Aloisi

Senior Interviewed: Erin Chong (V)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

I’d probably say the away game at Pinelands High School. The JV and Varsity team had to go together since it was so far away and we got home at like 9 PM that night. It’s a really long bus ride but I think it was memorable since I got to see the JV girls play and the conversations on the ride home made the time pass quickly. (Erin Chong)

What will you miss most about playing tennis at MRHS?

I’ll miss the team and the coaches, of course, but I’ll also miss just playing tennis with my friends and seeing them at practices and banquets. When you play with a team, I think you feel more support during matches. (Erin Chong)

Are you pursuing tennis after high school?

I’m probably not going to pursue it in college, but I’ll still play with friends for fun. (Erin Chong)

Junior Interviewed: Mallory Kopp (V)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

I have so many favorite memories from this season but I would probably have to say my favorite was our chants at the beginning of each game where we would rattle our racquets together in a circle and then yell out “falcons on three” in english and the occasional spanish and romanian. Either that or me and Logan’s fab handshake that we would do before each match that we played together. (Mallory Kopp)

What is your goal for next season? (for yourself and/or the team)

My goal for next season is to improve my skills a bit more and hopefully manage to gain a strong forehand and backhand that will stay in the court. (Mallory Kopp)

What are your thoughts considering next season will be your last season playing tennis at MRHS?

Gosh, I don’t even want to think about it! That’s a scary realization that I honestly can not believe! These last three years have flown by, and it’s insane to me to think that I will be a senior next year! I still remember everything from preseason of my freshman year to the end of this season, and I can not believe that my tennis career at MRHS will be over in less than a year. Like what? Sophomore Interviewed: Logan Thomas (V)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory from this season was the fact that my team played Raritan four times. Our games against them got rained out twice and we had to pick up where we left off in our next games we had against them. (Logan Thomas)

My goal for next season is to improve my serves and to not hit the ball over the fence every game. (Logan Thomas)

What is your favorite part of playing tennis for Monmouth?

My favorite part of playing tennis for Monmouth is getting to know everyone on the team. Although I don’t like that we sometimes have a game every day of the week, since I was able to see everyone more, I was able to build stronger friendships with my teammates. (Logan Thomas)

Cross Country

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory was the last race of the season. It’s my favorite because I got to see how the whole team grew throughout the season. It was great especially to see how much the freshman were able to improve their personal records. (Nick Clayton)

What will you miss most about doing cross country at MRHS?

The thing I’ll miss most about running cross country at Monmouth will definitely be the team. Over the years, we’ve bonded over pasta parties and races. It’ll be sad to see it all go but I’ve had a lot of great memories to remember it by. (Nick Clayton)

Are you pursuing cross country after high school?

I do plan to pursue cross country after high school. Running has made my life much better and I’m determined to continue it in college. (Nick Clayton)

Sophomore Interviewed: Cibella Tvrdik (V)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory from this year’s season is playing hide and seek at our pasta parties on the night before a meet. (Cibella Tvrdik)

What is your goal for next season? (for yourself and/or the team)

My goal for myself next season is to take a minute off my personal best time. My goal for the team next season is that we can grow in team members and continue to be competitive. (Cibella Tvrdik)

What is your favorite part of doing cross country for Monmouth?

My favorite part about doing cross country at Monmouth is that the team is very close with each other. (Cibella Tvrdik)

Freshman Interviewed: Carlie Simon (V) Allie Sjosward (V)

What was your favorite memory from this season?

My favorite memory from the season was when we went to Ally Sjosward’s house for a pasta party the night before a meet. We had a lot of fun and we bonded as a team. (Carlie Simon)

What is your goal for next season? (for yourself and/or the team)

My personal goal for next season is to get under 22 minutes in a 5k race. My goal for the team is for everyone to get close times during races so we can run together. (Carlie Simon)

What are your thoughts considering this was your first season competing in high school level cross country?

I enjoyed running this season. I improved myself mentally and physically. The cross country meets were very competitive and I’m happy I got to challenge myself. I made new friends in cross country and it was a great experience for my first high school sport! (Carlie Simon)
