TinyMCE is a user-friendly What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) text editor. It provides more inbuilt text editing and table tools. Check the detailed information below, where we will introduce you to the benefits of using it and the limitations that may preference the ATTO editor.
The TinyMCE editor provides a 'Word-like' interface that can sometimes be easier to use than the default editor. Here are some highlighted features that might make your life easier when creating content or activities on Moodle using this editor.
Create tables easily: The editor offers a familiar interface similar to Google Docs or Microsoft Word, allowing you to draw tables and instantly visualise their size.
Edit tables with ease: Effortlessly add or remove columns/rows, and merge/split cells in existing tables.
Customise table properties: Adjust table properties such as border, alignment, and color in a user-friendly interface, no coding required.
Simple Code Insertion: Easily add code samples/snippets into Moodle content with just a few clicks.
Wide Language Support: Choose from several common programming languages to ensure your code is accurately represented.
Enhanced Presentation: Display code to students in a visually appealing way with colour and syntax highlighting for better readability.
Here is an example of code snippets that will be shown in Moodle content.
Allows you to quickly find specific text and replace it with new content when needed.

For further details on this editor function, please refer to the "Explore more TinyMCE functions" section to learn more.
The TinyMCE text editor does NOT autosave your work so always Save your work at the bottom of the screen before exiting.
The TinyMCE editor provides an advanced WYSIWYG HTML editor, which makes creating activities easier in Moodle. However, it may be less convenient for HTML editing compared to the Atto editor. Switching to HTML view from the interface can be challenging, and previewing changes is less straightforward than what users are accustomed to.
To access the HTML view, navigate to View > Source code, where a pop-up window will allow you to code your content via HTML.
To preview the content after you finish the HTML coding, you need to close the pop-up window and return to the editor preview mode to see the result.
No Kaltura Video and Cloze Editor Options
TinyMCE doesn't have options for inserting Kaltura videos or using the Cloze editor when creating quiz questions. You won't be able to use these features with this editor. If you want to use them, you might need to switch back to the Atto editor.
