Compensating Parkinson's disease tremor using gyroscopic mechanism
Project title: Compensating Parkinson's disease tremor using gyroscopic mechanism
Position: PhD candidate
Benefits:
100% tuition fee waiver
RM2,850 monthly stipend for 42 months
Supervisors: Dr. Chan Ping Yi
Project Description:
The motivation of this research is to help patients with disabling Parkinson’s disease tremor to carry out daily activities. Such desired solution is not met by the current technologies, to date. In general, robotics exoskeleton type of compensator is effective in reducing tremor but it is rigid and heavy in weight, which is impractical for the clinical use. In this project, we are interested in using gyroscopic mechanism to compensate for 2 DOF of tremor motions.
