The Invisible Load: First-Generation Struggles
The Invisible Load: First Generation Struggle is a support group for students who are carrying the unseen pressures of being the “first” in their family to pursue higher education. It’s a space to unpack the unique emotional and psychological weight of balancing family expectations, academic demands, and personal identity. Through guided conversations and shared experiences, participants will find validation, encouragement, and strategies to navigate these challenges together.
Who is this for?
This group is for first-generation university students of all ethnicities at Monash University who may feel the burden of high expectations, responsibility, or isolation as the first in their families to step into higher education. Whether you’re navigating identity conflicts, balancing cultural values with personal goals, or simply wanting a space where people “get it,” this group is for you.
