About Me
Hi, I’m Niko (she/her)! I’m one of the many trainee counsellors currently pursuing a Masters in Professional Counselling here at Monash University Malaysia.
Originally from the ever-sunny and exciting city of Manila, I moved here almost 4 years ago for my bachelor’s degree in Psychological Science. Though I miss the Philippines from time to time, I am very happy and grateful to call Malaysia my home.
Growing up, I’ve had the privilege of being in a very diverse and inclusive environment and because of that I have unique and lived experiences in navigating challenges related to identity, gender, sexuality, relationships, spirituality, and neurodiversity. Given my background, I am also equipped to explore challenges related to transitions and adjusting to a new culture. So please know that when you walk through my doors, you will be heard, understood, and accepted no matter who you are or where you come from.
I believe that everyone deserves a safe space that is uniquely their own. Some might need a place to just breathe, others might want a place to authentically be themselves. Some could want a place that will safely push them towards their goals, or gently process emotions and experiences. Whatever a safe space means for you, my practice strives to meet you where you’re at, and adapt to your needs.
In my downtime, I am an avid reader and enjoyer of many films and TV shows. I also climb for fun and fitness, and I am very passionate about creating my own art and music.
If anything I’ve said here strikes a chord, please feel free to book a session with me.
