About Me
My name is Nikita Corea, a trainee counsellor at Monash University Malaysia. A little on my background in psychology, I chose to do my BSc in Psych, realizing that I’ve always had a certain fascination with the human mind; why we think and behave the way we do, and I have always felt drawn to understand this in others as well as in myself. This has brought me to where I am now, and with increased knowledge, I believe I have developed an increased passion to work with people, especially adolescents, in ways I wish were readily available for me growing up. I believe that we all need a safe space to vent out whatever rushing thoughts we may be feeling, be it to find a solution or to simply feel heard, and I hope to bring that into my therapy sessions. I aim to help my clients feel like they are not alone and that they can be who they are and know that it’s okay. As a counsellor, I hope to establish a safe and collaborative relationship built on trust and safety, a space where anyone can open up in their own time and know that they will be accepted through it all. Outside of the counselling room, I’m just a girl with many, many hobbies. You're most likely to find me trying to befriend any animals that cross my way, running away to the beach, or maybe just binging shows and drowning in music. I love to spend time with those closest to me, be it my two-legged friends and family, or the four-legged furry kind. I like to believe that the empathy and love I have towards animals and nature is reflective in my gentle approach towards people as well.
If we work together, I hope that you come to find me as a supportive figure you can trust to let out your thoughts and feelings without having to worry about judgment. You are in charge of your own life and who you are or wish to be, and I will be there to help you reach the heights I know you can and to be the true and whole version of yourself. Together, I believe we can be better than just “okay”. We all have the capacity to thrive, and I hope to help you reach that hand in hand, with understanding, acceptance, and maybe even some laughs along the way.
