Can my child take up more than one CCA in Pei Tong, especially if they are held on different days?
Unless your child is in Boys' or Girls' Brigade, students should only be in one CCA. Having more than one CCA will require a much higher commitment. We seek to allow our students a balanced lifestyle for work, play and rest. Additionally, CCA competitions, performances or events held for different CCA may result in a conflicting schedule. Due to the nature of Boys' / Girls' Brigade, students in that CCA may be allowed to take up a second CCA, subjected to CCA vacancies and students' suitability. Please consult the BBGB Teacher.
My child is in Primary 1 / Primary 2. Can he/she join a CCA?
It depends. At Primary 3, students will start the CCA enrollment process in Term 2 and will start CCA in Term 3, Sem 2 onwards. We encourage Primary 1 and 2 students to take time allow them to adapt to primary school life and explore their interests through other programmes such as in the Programme for Active Learning (PAL) lessons. However, students who have been talent identified for various CCAs may be invited to join CCA to further hone their talents and skills. If you require clarifications, please contact the CCA HOD or SH.
My child is currently participating in an external CCA not offered by the school. Must he/she join a CCA in Pei Tong?
It depends. Students may be exempted from a CCA in Pei Tong if they in an external CCA and competing or performing at a national level, or intend to represent our school for competitions (e.g. the National School Games). Students involved in self-enrichment programmes such as piano, coding or ActiveSG classes are not considered for CCA exemption. If your child is in an external CCA and you would like to seek further clarifications on his/her participation in a CCA in Pei Tong, please contact the CCA HOD or SH.
Can my child be exempted from CCA?
Yes, if your child is actively involved in an external CCA (see above) or due to a compelling medical reason.
However, all Primary 3 to Primary 6 students are strongly encouraged to participate in CCA. CCA is opt-out basis. Participating in a a school-based CCA allows our students to pursue their passions and interests outside the classroom and provide opportunities for interaction among students from different classes and backgrounds. It is also a platform to develop talents, leadership skills and our school values such as respect, resilience and excellence.
For students with medical reasons requesting to be exempted from CCA, please inform the form teachers or contact the CCA HOD or SH by providing relevant details and supporting documents. Approval will be subjected on a case-by-case basis.
When and how does my child apply for a CCA?
Primary 3 Students will start CCA in Term 3, Semester 2 onwards. The enrollment process will begin in Term 2 and consist of various activities for students to find out more about CCA. Students may opt to attend selection trials and CCA experience try-outs prior to CCA registration. They will then register online indicating their top 4 choices and subsequently be allocated to 1 CCA by the end of Term 2. Primary 3 CCA commences in Term 3. Primary 3 students will be provided with more information in Term 1.
My child is new to the school. How can he/she join a CCA?
If your child is new in P3 (Sem 2 onwards), P4 or P5, your child can apply for a CCA online via the link at https://for.gov.sg/ptps-ccaapplicationform. The same link can be found under Student Forms. Students may find out more about the available CCAs in this microsite here. The termly CCA letter will be provided to students after registration. Students will be informed of the application outcome before commencing their CCA..
If your child is new in P3 (Sem 1) before the CCA Registration period, he/she will not apply for CCA through the above online form. He/she will undergo the usual process with the rest of the P3 cohort.
If your child is new in P1 or P2, they will not apply for CCA.
Can my child change his/her CCA? If so, how and when can they do so?
It depends and is subjected to a case-to-case basis with a compelling reason. We strongly encourage our students to remain in their CCA to ensure depth of knowledge, skill development and continuity. Only P3 students at the end of the year, or P4 students in mid-year may change CCA. These students in his/her CCA for less than a year, however, must strictly follow the application period and process prescribed here under the "Student Forms" Page.
For students with urgent medical conditions requesting for a change of CCA, please contact the CCA teacher in-charge directly, or the CCA Coordinator / CCA HOD instead of using the Change of CCA request form as it is only opened during the application period.
Are there CCA competitions, performances or events for my child to participate in?
Yes. Different CCA will offer students opportunities to be involved in various competitions, performances and events. For students in Performing Arts CCA and Physical Sports CCA may be selected to participate for Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) and National School Games (NSG) respectively. There will also be opportunities for all students to participate in school-based events as well as community events and competitions.

Do approach your child's CCA teacher-in-charge if you would like to find out more information.
Will my child’s CCA achievements and participation be recorded?
For school-based CCA, your child's CCA will be reflected in the school’s End-Of-Year Holistic Report. This is subjected to their required regular CCA attendance, where absence from CCA is supported with MCs or valid reasons. (See CCA Policy).
Additionally, students who take part in school-registered competitions and events representing our school will also have their achievements reflected in the school’s End-Of-Year Holistic Report. These criteria includes external CCA not offered by the school. For example, participation in the Artistic Gymnastics National School Games for Pei Tong Primary School will be recorded.
Do note we are unable to include any personal achievement records for events or activities that are not endorsed and registered with the school (e.g. Piano grading, community talent competitions, ballet exam, external sports competitions etc.).
Can my child participate in competitions in an external CCA not offered by the school, such as the National School Games (NSG)?
Yes, as long as your child will be representing Pei Tong Primary School in the competition/event, our school should be able to support your child’s participation. Parents need to furnish further details for further confirmation.
For example, NSG requires students to be registered by the school and the external CCA teacher-in-charge will be able to facilitate this. Parents need to inform the school in advance the intend/interest for their child to participate in the competition. When the NSG registration opens, parents will be contacted and the external CCA teacher-in-charge will liaise from there.
On which days are Boys' Brigade and Girls' Brigade (BBGB) held?
BBGB are uniformed groups that take place on Saturdays. This is unlike the rest of the CCA which is held on Tuesdays or Thursdays.
As a main CCA in Pei Tong, students should ensure they are able to attend the CCA on Saturdays. The dates are provided in the CCA Termly Calendar.
Can my child in BB/GB join a second CCA (e.g. 2 CCAs)?
Yes, they can take up another CCA, depending on CCA vacancy and student suitability. Students who request to be in another CCA on top of BB/GB should also be able to commit to both CCAs, with priority given to BB/GB. Please consult the BBGB Teacher.
Where or how can I get more information about BBGB?
Do contact the BBGB Teacher IC for clarifications.
When and how is eCCA conducted?
CCA will switch to eCCA mode according to the Covid-19 National Guidelines. Students and parents will be informed by the school. All eCCA sessions are home-based and would be conducted after school hours on the scheduled CCA days. Students will be provided sufficient time after school dismissal to make their way home and have lunch before eCCA commences.
Conduct of eCCA may include live sessions (e.g. through Zoom), SLS online lessons (e.g. pre-recorded instructional videos, video links, performance tasks and submissions), and/or offline tasks that students could carry out at a self-directed pace within stipulated deadline. While duration and tasks differs for different CCA groups, each eCCA session will be between 1 to 2 hours, including all planned activities whether online or offline.
Where can I obtain specific information on my child's eCCA timing and other details?
Individual CCA schedule and details will be communicated by the respective CCA teachers-in-charge on Student Learning Space (SLS) at least 3 days before the start of every eCCA session (i.e. on Sunday for Tuesday CCA, and on Tuesday for Thursday CCA).
Students are expected to log onto SLS prior to every CCA session to obtain the information and give sufficient time to make the necessary preparations prior to every CCA session.
My child is attending the school’s Student Care. Will there be arrangements for him/her to participate in eCCA?
Yes. For students in NASCAN, the school's Student Care, laptops will be loaned to students to complete their eCCA session. Students are to exercise responsibility by bringing to school their own necessary items and attire for their eCCA on their eCCA day. Students are required to collect and return their laptops promptly 15 minutes before and after each eCCA session.
My child is attending Student Care after school hours at an external Student Care Centre. How can he/she participate in eCCA?
Please make the necessary arrangements with your external Student Care Centre Coordinators directly. Do inform them of the eCCA schedule and details so that they may assist your child.
I am not able to make arrangements for my child to participate in eCCA. Is eCCA compulsory?
Though not compulsory, we strongly encourage students to attend all CCA sessions, whether in physical face-to-face or eCCA mode. While eCCA cannot replicate fully the rich learning experiences and outcomes of physical CCA sessions, we seek your support in the school’s endeavour to continue to develop our students holistically. Do contact your child's CCA teacher-in-charge to discuss possible arrangements that can be made for your child to attend eCCA.
