Our school team selection prioritises fairness, student development, and alignment with our school values.
Students are chosen based on:
Skill level and growth observed during regular CCA sessions
Learning attitude, effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship
Holistic observations made by coaches and teachers over time
Selections are made jointly by the coaches and CCA teachers.
To ensure fairness, coaches must declare if they privately coach any CCA member outside school, at the start of the school year. If so, they will recuse themselves from decisions involving those students. Selection for these students will be done by CCA teachers and endorsed by HOD PE & CCA.
Representing the school is a meaningful milestone. While CCAs strive to be inclusive, selection also depends on:
Readiness and suitability
Competition Rules & Regulations
For NSG Sports, there are competition criteria to be followed. Being selected does not guarantee actual game time, as coaches must consider competition format and strategy.
For Performing Arts, there is generally more flexibility to include students. However, students must be able to perform at the expected level and work in sync with the team.
For Clubs, competition spots are usually limited. Students will be able to showcase their learning through alternative platforms such as in VIA, Camps, Learning Journeys, etc.
Not all CCA students may be chosen for competitions or performances. In such instances, CCA teachers and coaches will support the student in managing her emotions positively and in focusing on continued growth and resilience.
Parents may contact the CCA teachers for clarification.
We encourage our students to view CCA as opportunities to persevere, grow, and build resilience. Each PL-Lite's journey in her interests and passions is long and often non-linear. As such, our shared goal is to support every child in developing both skill and character for the long term.
