Rate
1) Rate as the amount of a quantity per unit of another quantity
2) Find rate, total amount, or number of units given the other two quantities
3) Solving word problems involving rate
Students should be able to:
(a) talk about examples of rate in everyday situations such as postage rates and utility rates (water and electricity consumption rates).
(b) talk about a situation involving rate and recognise that there are three related quantities (rate, total amount, number of units) and given any two quantities, the third quantity can be calculated.
(c) solve problems using proportional reasoning.
