LE 1(a) Work in groups to measure length using a variety of non-standard units such as body parts, and common objects in their environment such as paper clips and explain their choices of units and how the measurement is done.
LE 1(b) Use everyday examples to develop a sense of how long 1 cm is, e.g. width of a fingernail.
LE 1(c) Estimate length before measuring it and use the word ‘about’ (e.g. about 10 paper clips, about 20 cm) to describe the estimation and measurement.
