2023 SEC 2 FLOORBALL INTER-CLASS GAME

GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Eligibility of Participation
a. Only Secondary 2 students are allowed to participate in the competition.
b. All players in the team must be from the same class (e.g. 2H, 2O).
2. Registration of Players
a. Each class shall register four teams – 2 boys’ team and 2 girls’ team.
b. Each team shall consist of 4 players.
c. A total of 4 reserves (same gender) will serve as substitutes across all 4 teams.
d. Each team must have for the game to begin. In the event that this is not fulfilled, a walkover will be awarded (10 - 0) for the opposing team.
3. Substitutions
a. There is no maximum number of substitutions – rolling substitutions.
b. Any player who is substituted can re-enter the game with another substitution.
c. There is no need to inform the referee for substitution. However, it must occur when the ball is not in play and the player who is to be substituted must leave the court of play before the substitute can come in.
4. Competition Format
a. Knock-out format.
b. The top four classes from each court will proceed to the semi-finals and winning classes of the 2 semi-final games will play in the final.
c. Runner-Up classes of the semi-finals will play for the 3rd position.
5. Scoring
a. After the duration of each game, the winning class is determined by score. If a draw occurs, extra time of 2 minutes will be played. If still a draw, penalties of 4 shots will be played to determine the winner. If all 4 shots by both teams are scored, sudden score will be used (Team that misses first will lose.)
6. Award of Points
a. The winning team is determined by the higher number of goals scored in the match.
7. Periods
a. Each game consists of only 1 period and is played for 10 minutes.
b. All teams will start and end together. In the event that the ball is still in play after the stop signal is given, the game will end when the ball touches the ground.
c. A grace period of 1 minute will be given for teams whose participants do not arrive on time. A walkover shall be awarded to the opposing class after the grace period.
d. Winner of the coin toss will choose the side to play.
8. Attire
a. All players must be in PE or class t-shirt and PE shorts together with proper covered footwear.
9. Team Captain
a. The TEAM CAPTAINS of each team (Boys and Girls) must sign on the score sheet at the end of each game to verify that the score is accurate. Henceforth, the result shall stand and no protests will be entertained.
10. Prizes
a. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 classes.
11. Teacher In-Charge of the Team (CCs)
a. Each participating class must be accompanied by at least one CC who shall remain with the class throughout the duration of the competition.
12. Student Referee
a. Selected students from Floorball CCA and other selected Sec 2 students will be the referees for all the games.
b. As student referees, they will do their best, within their knowledge and judgment, to officiate the matches. Any decision made shall be final unless over-ruled by teacher-organiser. RESPECT the official’s call.
13. Disqualification
a. Teams / players that fail to keep up with the spirit of fair play, not obeying the rules of the competition, abusing any officials or any other undesirable behavior not in line with our school’s core values, will be disqualified from the competition.
14. Safety
a. Whilst reasonable precaution will be taken by the Organizing Committee to ensure safety, all players’ and supporters are responsible for their own safety.
b. All players are advised to be well-rested and well-hydrated.
c. Players who received a vaccination dose in the past two weeks before the ICG date will not be allowed to take part. Players who are recovering from COVID must follow your doctor’s prescribed MC dates. It is the responsibilities of all players and CCs to ensure this.
d. Should any player feel unwell prior or at any time during the competition, he/she must stop participating immediately, inform their CC and seek medical attention from the first-aid point.
15. Amendments
a. The Organizing Committee shall have the right to delete, add on to or amend the rules and regulations laid down herein.
BASIC FLOORBALL RULES
Players in the Team:
1. Each team has 4 players on court with 4 reserves
2. Ensure that all players are in the correct rotation order during the game.
Playing floorball:
- Face-off to start the game or once a goal is scored
- No goalkeeper (A 2m ‘no-entry’ boundary to be drawn around the goalpost)
- No high stick (Raising the stick above waist level)
- No dangerous or rough play
- 3 feet away during hit-in, restart of play from a foul
- Re-hit from where the foul is committed
- Use of foot only once to stop the floorball
- Penalty is awarded when foul during a goal-scoring opportunity
(Penalty: Free hit from 5 metres out)
- If match ends in a draw, 2 mins of extra time. If still a draw, penalty of 4 shots each team
Ball is ruled OUT, if
1. the ball lands outside the boards or boundary lines (without touching the opponent).
Rotation:
1. A team can substitute any of their players any point in time during the game. A player subbed off can re-enter the match again.
