Safety Rules & Etiquette
The safety of all gym users are the most important. All users must observe the etiquette and safety rules of the HS Gym. Do not use the gym if unwell. If in doubt, please clarify with the teacher on duty or any HS PE teacher.
Non-compliance or violation of the etiquette and/or safety rules may result in immediate suspension of your gym access for a duration determined by the school.
The school reserves the right to close the gym without prior notice.
Before you begin:
Please leave your bags and belongings outside the gym neatly against the glass panel.
Only plain water is allowed in the gym.
Ensure that you are in proper exercise attire (e.g. PE attire) with covered shoes, and have a towel with you.
During your workout:
Always begin with a warm-up activity.
Make gradual increases in repetition/load/time in your training.
Use correct form and technique. Strictly NO EGO (dangerous acts/showing off), ONLY DEDICATION. If unsure, seek help from the teacher on duty.
Ensure all barbells are secured with the safety pins prior to using them and get a spotter to help when performing free-weight exercises.
Please wipe down the equipment after every use using the sanitizer and paper towel provided.
Always end your session with a cool-down activity.
After your session is over, please:
Ensure that the gym is clean and neat, ready for the next user.
Check that you do not leave any personal belongings behind.
Leave the gym punctually.
Wipe away any sweat on the equipment used with your gym towel.
Do not hog the equipment. Allow other users to use it when you are resting.
Do not bang/drop the free/stacked weights. Return the free-weights to their original position after using them.
