2. With FSBB, how does CTSS decide on the placement of the students in each class? Will they be in the same class throughout their 4 or 5 years in school?
With Full SBB, we are moving towards one secondary education with many subject bands to better meet our students’ learning needs, and without labelling the stream. This is part of the broader shift in our education system to recognize the strengths and interests of our children, to help them build their confidence, and develop in them an intrinsic motivation to learn for life.
In CTSS, students are grouped in form classes based on their CCA. In this way, there would be more authentic opportunities for students to learn together and build deeper friendships through CCA. Their form teachers, who are also the CCA Parents (CCAP), can also better know them and chart their holistic growth beyond academic learning. The CCA-based form class remains constant throughout their journey in CTSS, and will be the class in which students experience Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) lessons.
Within the form class, students will also have lessons together for the Lower Secondary “common curriculum subjects”: Art, Design & Technology, Food and Consumer Education, Music, Physical Education
In the remaining academic subjects, students will be in classes depending on the level of subjects that they are taking, which could be G1, G2 or G3.
