Officer Retreat
(Lake Oroville, August) After officers are elected in May, they attend a retreat during the summer where they plan the year, bond as a team, and learn to work together!
COLC
(Nevada City, August) The Chapter Officer Leadership Conference is hosted by the Superior Region officers in coordination with State officers that help build a leadership foundation specifically for our chapter level.
Shasta College Field Day
(Shasta College, October) Students compete in various CDEs ranging from Farm Power to Horse Judging. This contest is held in the early Fall and serves as good practice and exposure for our CDE teams!

(Palo Cedro, CA, October) FRESHMEN. The Greenhand Leadership Conference is no ordinary leadership experience! You will spend the day diving into the incredible ways Agricultural Education will impact your life and the exciting events and opportunities in store for you.
Intermountain Section O/C Contest
(McArthur, CA, November) Students can compete in our Intermountain Section Opening and Closing, BIG, CO-OP, and Novice Farm Records Contests at novice and advanced levels.
Etna Invitational
(Etna, January) Students can compete in various LDEs ranging from creed to job interview. This contest happens in the Fall and is great exposure for future competitions!

(Redding, CA, January) JUNIORS. Advanced Leadership Academy is a two-day conference where students build team leadership skills. Once a leader is comfortable with their own self and self-purpose, they can discover how to work with others and establish common goals. Student discovery of how to work as a team of innovative leaders in their chapter while analyzing program needs and creating a plan of action to create change, is the focus of this conference.
*MFE
(Redding, CA, January) SOPHOMORES. Made For Excellence, is a two-day conference where students can grow as leaders. Personal development starts with the individual. Self-discovery of talents, strengths, interests and personal character are emphasized as the individual is channeled to discover their passion in life. This conference focuses on "ME: one's personal skills and development of the ability to be successful.
Arbuckle Field Day
(Pierce High School, February) Students can compete in various CDEs at this ever growing competition!
Chico State Field Day
(Chico, CA, February) Hosted at CSU Chico and Butte College, Students can compete in various CDE competitions.
National FFA Week
(February) A week long event that Alturas FFA Leadership hosts. There are lunch time activities, prizes, food, and fun! Students are encouraged to get involved and celebrate FFA.
Intermountain Sectional Speaking Contest
(Susanville, CA, February) Students compete at the sectional level in various LDE Speaking competitions. Those that qualify in the top 4 of each contest move on to compete at the Regional level.
gridley Field Day
(Gridley, March) Hosted by Gridley High School. Students can compete in various CDEs and LDEs.
Superior Region Contests & Meeting
(Chico State, March) Students that move on from a sectional level compete at the regional level for speaking contests. Those that move on from the regional level will compete at the State level. Our Regional meeting is also held where we conduct regional business and elect regional officers.

(Anderson, March) The Golden State FFA Degree is awarded to FFA members who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to the California State FFA Association and made significant accomplishments in their Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs).
*California FFA State Convention
(Sacramento, CA, April) A four day event for students. The Convention encourages students to develop personal and team leadership skills, discover agricultural careers, establish lasting friendships and strive for success. The Convention also will highlight student accomplishments in public speaking and production practices with proficiency awards, scholarships and special recognitions.
FFA State Finals
(Cal Poly SLO, May) Students that have worked hard and competed all year on CDE teams have the opportunity to compete at the state level with other FFA chapters from all over California!
Ag in the Classroom
(JLS Grounds, May) Alturas FFA partners with the Modoc Cattlewomen and Surprise Valley FFA to host and coordinate the annual Ag in the Classroom event. Over 400 kids K-3 from all over the county come spend a day learning about our local agricultural and connecting with our community.
8th Grade Recruitment
(MHS, May) Ag Leadership organizes our 8th grade recruitment event that exposes the incoming freshmen to our ag program.
End of Year Banquet
(MHS, May) The Alturas FFA Officers host family members, students, faculty, and community members with a dinner and awards program for the accomplishments of the program for the year.
*National FFA Convention
(Indianapolis, IN, October) Every 2 years, Alturas FFA takes a trip to the four-day National FFA Convention.The event is the nation’s largest annual gathering of students. Students have the opportunity to explore career and educational opportunities from more than 450 industry-leading exhibitors at the Expo and participate in hundreds of education workshops and tours. While in Indianapolis, FFA members and other supporters from around the country will learn about careers in agriculture, compete for scholarships and awards, meet with industry leaders, and learn skills they can take back to their home FFA chapter.
*SLE
(Sacramento, CA, February) SENIORS. Students step into the role of one of California's State legislators, are assigned a specific California district and spend four days in Sacramento. SLE is all about the role of government, agricultural policy and advocacy. This conference focuses on Community Development and DO: the ability of the individual leader and team to put their vision into action.”
Modoc County JLS
(JLS Grounds, June) A week-long event here in Alturas! Students who have animal SAE projects show and sell their market animals ranging from poultry to beef. Students also can show their breeding project animals as well.

Chapter Meetings
(MHS, Every month) Every month Alturas FFA holds a chapter meeting. Here, we conduct chapter business, meet with others, play games and activities, and always have a yummy snack! We often give out prizes and talk about other opportunities in the FFA. Each meeting is worth an FFA point!
