June Maintenance Day moved to June 11 at 8 AM. (Father's day is June 18th.) We will be installing boundary markers behind the bow range, installing signs and posts, and repairing the parking lot.
2023-2024 Hunting Guidelines and Calendar are posted. PLEASE READ THE GUIDELINES CAREFULLY - a number of items have been clarified and reorganized. It is your obligation to know the rules and abide by them.
Permit sales for the 2023-2024 Hunting Season will begin in August. The Hunting Control Station will be open on Saturdays from 9-3. Forms and fees are listed on the Hunting Permits page.
Scouting will be permitted in August on Saturdays. Purchase your permit and head out to the field to scout - see guidelines for scouting requirements.
We want your help to maintain and improve the refuge hunting habitat. Every third Sunday of the month (non-hunting season included) we help maintain the grounds of the refuge. This is a great opportunity to give back to the Patuxent Research Refuge (PRR) and the MNHA hunting community, meet fellow hunters, and peek around to see what the animals are doing. We are not accepting deer donations for the Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry program until further notice.
Area W is CLOSED due to Wavyleaf Basketgrass until further notice as USF&W biologist are using this as a study area. Please notify hunting control if you find this invasive grass species while hunting on the refuge. Additional Wavyleaf Basketgrass information and pictures can be found here.
