February 6, 2026
As a friendly reminder, please try labeling all of your child's snow gear so if it left behind, we can get it back to them! This will help limit the amount of clothes in our lost & found!
As we reflect on the last two weeks at UCS, there has been no shortage of excitement, learning, and community connection throughout our building. Our first two trips of Snow Motion at Cochran’s have been a wonderful start to the season, with students enjoying time outdoors while building confidence and skills on the mountain. Thank you to all who have volunteered and have made this opportunity possible! Midweek, our school-wide trip to the Flynn was a huge hit! This special experience was made possible through the generous support of the UCS PTO and the winnings from the Earth Rangers Battery Blitz Challenge, earned last year by Mrs. Bernier’s class. We are incredibly grateful for this support, which allowed all of our students to take part in such a meaningful and memorable opportunity.
We have also started exploring our new SEL theme for February: Kindness. Over the next two weeks leading up to break, we will continue focusing on what kindness looks like in our words, actions, and choices. Next Friday, Mrs. Ferreira’s class will lead our All-School Morning Meeting, helping us deepen our understanding of this important theme.
A few important reminders as we look ahead:
Early Release Day next Wednesday, 2/11
Special School-Wide Iditarod Presentation on 2/18
We will head into break with our UCS Spirit Week during the week of Feb 16-20. You can find the themes for the week listed below
With temperatures expected to drop this weekend, I hope everyone is able to stay warm and safe while enjoying all that winter has to offer. Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support in making UCS such a vibrant and caring community.

GIRLS on the RUN is BACK!
We’re getting ready for another amazing season of Girls on the Run at UCS, but we need your help! We’re looking for volunteer coaches to help lead this fun, empowering program for 3rd and 4th grade girls. The season typically begins in March and runs two days a week after school, ending around 3:45 PM. The program wraps up with an inspiring Celebration 5K on Saturday, May 30, as part of the Essex 5K! Don’t worry if you can’t commit to both days, we’re very flexible and would love to have you join us even if you can only help one day a week!
If you’re interested in coaching, please reach out to Head Coach Abbie Bernier at abigail.bernier@mmuusd.org for more information and fill out the coach volunteer form.
We’re also trying to gauge interest for this year’s team! If your 3rd or 4th grade girl would like to participate, please complete the interest form: GOTRVT Participant Interest Form.
Please note: this is not the official registration, just a way for us to plan for the number of participants. Let’s make this another great season of fun, friendship, and running!
