As a friendly reminder, please try labeling all of your child's snow gear so if it left behind, we can get it back to them! This will help limit the amount of clothes in our lost & found!
I want to take a moment to express how grateful I am to be part of this amazing school community. Each day, I feel fortunate to be surrounded by such dedicated staff, supportive families, and most of all, our incredible students. Their energy and enthusiasm bring a smile to my face and inspire me daily!
As we head into break, I also want to extend my sincere gratitude to all who have donated gift cards for our annual drive. Your generosity directly supports families in our community, and we are truly appreciative. Please be sure to check the information below for more details on both the ongoing gift card drive and the food drive that will kick off when we return.
This week, our whole school also worked together to fill our Gratitude Jar, sharing the many things we are thankful for here at UCS. This was a meaningful all-school activity that tied beautifully into our monthly theme and reminded us just how much there is to appreciate within our community. We also spent time reinforcing our outdoor recess expectations, with a focus on safety and kindness. As the weather continues to shift and the snow continues to fall, the students bring plenty of enthusiasm outside, these reminders help ensure that everyone can enjoy recess in a safe, respectful, and fun environment.
A huge thank you goes out to Amanda Cowan for her incredible organization of this afternoon’s Annual Turkey Trot. This event continues to bring our community together in such a fun and meaningful way. Truly a wonderful way to end a week filled with energy and excitement.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. I hope you all have a restful and enjoyable break ahead and we look forward to seeing everyone back in December!

FROM THE DISTRICT
2025-2026 SY District Calendar
The district has put out the SY calendar for next year over the weekend. There are minimal changes compared to this year’s school calendar. The First Student Day is back on a Wednesday (August 27th).
You can view the full 2025-26 SY Calendar HERE and it was shared in the District Happenings as well!
FROM THE MUSIC ROOM
We are looking at possibly having to replace our piano of MANY years. Before looking into potentially purchasing a new one, we were wondering if anyone out there in the community had a piano that they no longer use or need. If you know of someone or have one, please contact David Marlow and Sarah Bolio-Gallaspie. THANKS

Periodic Reminder to Check Your Child for Lice and Nits
It is that time of year where we come across head lice in the class. This is a reminder to check your child’s head for lice periodically - checking weekly is a good habit. Head lice are tiny insects that live in the hair and on the scalp.. They do not fly or jump, but they can crawl from one person to another with close contact. Lice lay eggs called nits that stick tightly to the hair near the scalp, often behind the ears or at the back of the neck. Nits look like small white or brown specks and can’t be easily brushed away. If your child is scratching their head or neck more than usual, it’s a good idea to take a close look. Head lice are common among school-aged children and can happen to anyone - they’re not a sign of being dirty or unclean. If you do find lice or nits, your pharmacist or health care provider can help you choose a treatment. Be sure to follow the directions carefully, including retreating in 7-10 days if indicated. Additionally, it is essential to comb your child’s hair with a lice comb daily for at least 2 full weeks to remove nits. Following this treatment plan is the best way to keep lice from coming back.
Please feel free to contact the health office if you have questions about sending your child to school after an illness.
