December 5, 2025
As a friendly reminder, please try labeling all of your child's snow gear so if it left behind, we can get it back to them! This will help limit the amount of clothes in our lost & found!
Welcome back! It’s hard to believe we’re already kicking off the first week of December (and first snow day of the SY). After a restful break, it has been wonderful to see students return with such positive energy; ready to jump back into classroom routines, reconnect with friends, and enjoy the fresh snow that arrived just in time for their return!
This month, our school-wide theme is EMPATHY. It is a great opportunity in December to focus and build community together. We will be learning more about what empathy looks like and how we can share our feelings with others at next week's All-School Morning Meeting led by Ms. Giguere/Danis' classroom!
A few reminders as we settle in for a busy 2.5 weeks ahead:
Our Food and Gift Card Donation Drive is up and running! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. These drives will continue through Wednesday, December 17th.
Next Wednesday, December 10th, will be a 2-hour early release day.
Next Friday, the PTO will host Kids Night Out from 4:00–7:30p! Students can enjoy dinner, popcorn, indoor crafts, outdoor play, and a movie. ALL proceeds directly support our UCS school community. More details can be found in the flyer below.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we move into this joyful and busy season. We’re excited for everything December brings!

Periodic Reminder to Check Your Child for Lice and Nits
It is that time of year where we come across head lice in the class. This is a reminder to check your child’s head for lice periodically - checking weekly is a good habit. Head lice are tiny insects that live in the hair and on the scalp.. They do not fly or jump, but they can crawl from one person to another with close contact. Lice lay eggs called nits that stick tightly to the hair near the scalp, often behind the ears or at the back of the neck. Nits look like small white or brown specks and can’t be easily brushed away. If your child is scratching their head or neck more than usual, it’s a good idea to take a close look. Head lice are common among school-aged children and can happen to anyone - they’re not a sign of being dirty or unclean. If you do find lice or nits, your pharmacist or health care provider can help you choose a treatment. Be sure to follow the directions carefully, including retreating in 7-10 days if indicated. Additionally, it is essential to comb your child’s hair with a lice comb daily for at least 2 full weeks to remove nits. Following this treatment plan is the best way to keep lice from coming back.
Please feel free to contact the health office if you have questions about sending your child to school after an illness.
