We had another busy week in 3rd and 4th grade! Students received their first letters back, and it was lovely to see their excitement as they read the replies. They wrote their second weekly letters today.
We wrapped up several beginning-of-year projects and assessments, learned about pollinators with Bee The Change, and enjoyed our annual Zucchini Relay. The enormous zucchinis made for some entertaining runs!
We also explored what it means to have a growth mindset. Next Monday, Mr. Weber will help us create a video on the topic. Our class will share it when we host next Friday’s All School Meeting.
Thank you for being such an important part of our classroom community. We’re grateful for your support as we begin the year together. Have a fantastic weekend!
Parents, Join us for All School Meeting!
Our class has been working hard to lead All School Meeting on Friday, October 2, at 8:00 a.m. We’ll share what we’ve learned about having a growth mindset and show a video the students made. Families are welcome to join us; we’d love to see you there!
Start Time for School
Just a friendly reminder that our school day begins at 7:50 a.m. If your child arrives after 7:50, they will be marked tardy.
If you drive your child to school, arriving between 7:30 and 7:45 gives them plenty of time to get settled and ready for our Morning Meeting. Starting our day together on time helps us make the most of this special time as a classroom community.
Thank you so much for helping your child start the day feeling calm, happy, and ready to learn!
October Conferences
I will be offering parent-teacher conferences in October. Please fill out this google form to indicate your conference preferences. Your requests will need to be submitted by Friday, October 2 at 8:00 AM so I have enough time to create the conference schedule.
Weekly Letters Home
Each week, your child will bring home their Weekly Letter in their folder. We will begin writing our letters on Thursday, with Friday available to finish them up as needed. Notebooks will come home Thursday or Friday, depending on when your child finishes their letter.
Your child will share things about their week and may sometimes ask you a question. Please do your best to read and respond to your child’s letter. This is a wonderful, authentic writing experience that gives students a chance to practice their writing while also reflecting on their week at school.
Please return your child’s notebook as soon as possible each week, and by Thursday morning at the latest so we have it ready for our next letter.
Thank you for taking the time to be part of this special writing routine!
Morning Meeting Share
We have already started Classroom Sharing in our classroom! Students can sign up on our classroom sharing calendar and choose when they would like to share. They will not have a specific day of the week assigned to them, giving them the independence to decide when they have something they would like to share with the class.
Photos, stories, hobbies, collections, and other interesting non-toy items are wonderful things to share. Please leave toys at home so that sharing remains an opportunity to tell us about something meaningful, interesting, or special.
If your child has something they would like to share but you aren't sure whether it fits our expectations, please feel free to email me. I'm always happy to help!
Reminder: Toys Stay at Home
Many students have been bringing small toys and trinkets to school. Please help your child remember to leave these items at home, as they can become distracting during the school day. I also don’t want any special belongings to get lost or broken. Thank you for your support!
