Diana Gutierrez
Class of '25
TRIO staff are very impressed with Diana’s work ethic and her approach to her senior year. She has been at every single CPC meeting except one which she COMMUNICATED that she was unable to attend in advance. She was quick to complete her FAFSA and has applied to four colleges and two scholarships. She has been accepted into Washington State University, Eastern Washington University, and Central Washington University already. Her commitment to TRIO and her future is a great example for our students and they should all follow her LEAD. Diana attended the College and Career Center’s Financial Aid Night in January where she worked on local scholarships and got advice from TRIO staff. We are proud of Diana for her commitment and we are excited for what the future holds for her in the next few months and beyond. - TRIO Staff

Diego Medrano
Class of '28
Diego is receiving this award because of the tremendous growth he has demonstrated within the TRIO Upward Bound program. His INVOLVEMENT in the SOS Team with the highest amount of volunteer hours for the Winter Social event show his commitment to TRIO values and goals. Moreover, before he submitted a scholarship, he scheduled a meeting with his CPC to review his scholarship essay. When his CPC had to cancel, Diego reached out to reschedule. He successfully submitted his scholarship application during the rescheduled meeting day, a week before the scholarship deadline. His COMMUNICATION, self-motivation, planning, and active listening all contribute to Diego displaying LEADERSHIP qualities to his fellow TRIO peers and being selected as Student of the Month. - TRIO Staff

Marisol Alcala-Mata
Class of '25
Marisol is receiving this award for her impressive track record of attending her weekly virtual TRIO meetings with Obi and COMMUNICATING if any scheduling conflicts arise. Her reason for missing a meeting has always been because of a test coming up in one of her classes at Big Bend Community College where she is in her second year of the Running Start program. While she is no longer living in Moses Lake, Marisol has remained actively INVOLVED in our program. She was able to attend the required Senior Work Session in person this month. She was also one of the few seniors to get a big TRIO assignment done which will benefit her future. Thank you for staying committed to the program and taking advantage of all our resources your senior year, Marisol! - TRIO Staff
