Math Ideas

Math Practice Ideas for Home

Below are a few optional math activities that your student can work on during our time away from school. None of this is required. I am simply providing it to you as a way for us to stay connected and for your student to continue his/her learning over the next month that we are out of school.

I have created a math class account with Khan Academy. If you would like an online option for math practice, you can follow the instructions below to set up an account for your student. Please use our class code so that your student has access to the "assignments" (all optional) I put out and so I can see his/her work, provide feedback and assign new material based on individual needs.

Khan Academy

  • Visit: https://www.khanacademy.org/join/AKM64JBA
  • Enter your class code and press “Add”. Class code: AKM64JBA
  • If you don’t already have an account, press “Create a new account”. Enter your date of birth, then sign up using Google, your email, or by creating a username.
  • Enter your grade (1st) and course (. Now you’re ready to start learning!

I have also emailed a few PDFs with some math review/practice options (from TTSD) if you would prefer to have your child using pen and paper rather than a computer for his/her practice. There is also a great option for some number sense activities that your student can do on his/her own or with family members.

If you choose to print work or have your student use other printed math resources at home, you are always welcome to take pictures of work and email it to me if your student desires feedback. I can also work on sending more supplementary materials or ideas for home practice based on the work/feedback I get from you and your student. At this time, I am unable to go to the school building and print any materials for you.

April Math Calendar

Below is a great resource from TTSD. It is a fun way to practice one math concept each day of the month. You could print the calendar off and each day yours student reads the question and practices the concept.

Ignore the fact that is says 2019, The concepts are still relevant.
