In Reading, students will begin to explore various comprehension strategies they can use to help them understand what they have read. This week the focus will be using what they know to predict what will happen next. During these lessons students will continue to practise reading fluently.
In our storybook lessons we will continue to read the text Pete the Sheep by Jackie French and Bruce Whatley. Students will explore vocabulary used in the text and summarise the main events in the story.
This week students will continue to write a persuasive piece of writing. We will explore persuasive language (such as modal verbs) and the structure of persuasive texts (e.g. starting a paragraph with an opinion and then providing reasons to support our opinion).
This week students will continue to explore addition. They will be learning to add within 20 by bridging-10 on ten-frames and number lines.
In Spelling this week, we will be exploring the spelling choices for – ‘ee’, ‘ea’, ‘e_e’
We will be focusing on the tricky words: who, people, caught
At home, you can support your child by doing the following activities:
Child writes the word, saying each sound as he/she writes.
Draw child’s attention to the target phonic pattern.
Help child choose the correct spelling pattern if there are options.

In Grammar this week, students will be focusing on adjectives (describing words).

In Wellbeing this week, we will continue our Friendology lessons. Students will:
review and highlight the key friendship skills they learned throughout the sessions
reflect on how kindness & strength work together to protect our mental health & wellbeing
demonstrate self-awareness + social-awareness (empathy), deepening their connection with classmates
