Concern 2: Inoperative Display
System Description
The black timer box directly receives 110VAC from the unit's power plug. The timer does not rely on any inputs from other components to function. In a case matching this concern, the issue is likely a failed power source, a failed timer, or an internal, main wiring issue.
Troubleshooting steps
Initial check
(Step 1) Unplug and plug the unit's power cord at the wall outlet. What is the Result?:
The pump turns on and runs for a time between 30 seconds and 1 minute, but the display is still inoperative: Proceed to the dropdown "Inspect Unit Internals."
The pump does not run when the unit is plugged back in: Proceed to (Step 2)
The pump runs and the display resumes operation: Issue resolved.
(Step 2) Try to operate the pump from the hand-held remote. What is the result?:
The pump does not run: Proceed to the dropdown "Inspect Power Source."
The pump turns on and runs for a time between 30 seconds and 1 minute, but the display is still inoperative: Proceed to the dropdown "Inspect Unit Internals."
Inspect Power Source
(Step 1) Visually inspect plug connection and wiring condition for loose connections or damage.
Not Good: Secure the connection or perform wire repair [electrical shock warning] unplug the Misting system before attempting to perform any wire repair on the system. Consult a professional electrician for repairs on power source wiring.
Good: Proceed to Step 2
(Step 2) Is GFCI/breaker tripped?
No: Proceed to step 3
Yes: Proceed to step 4
(Step 3) Plug the Mistcooling pump into a different, known-good outlet (the usage of a properly rated extension cord is acceptable for diagnostic purposes):
The display functions properly: The issue is in the original power source, not the Mistcooling system. Please consult a professional electrician for diagnosis of the failed power source.
The display functions but now there is another issue (e.g. pump does not run): Return to the concern selector.
The display still does not operate: Proceed to the next dropdown: "Inspect unit internals"
(Step 4) Reset the GFCI/breaker. Does the display function?
Yes: Issue resolved
No: Proceed to the next step-
(Step 5) Did the GFCI/breaker trip again?
No: Return to step 3
Yes: Reset the breaker and plug in another appliance that draws a current similar to the pump. Does the breaker also trip when that appliance is used?
i. Yes: The issue is in the original power source, not the Mistcooling system. Please consult a professional electrician for diagnosis of the failed power source.
ii. No: There may be a short circuit in the unit internals. Proceed to the next dropdown: "Inspect unit internals"
Inspect Unit Internals
Unplug the Mosquito unit from the power outlet to avoid the risk of electrical shock.
Remove the top of the black box under the timer (4 Phillips head screws- 1 on each corner)
Check for any loose wires. Make sure that the wires from the wire caps to the timer and to the power plug are secure. What is the result?:
Wires were secure: The failure is likely in the timer unit. Replace the timer.
A wire had come loose: Install the wire into the cap with the matching color wires. Once secure, reinstall the black cover and plug the system back into a known-good power source (Please note that it may take up to 15 minutes for the internal batteries in the timer to charge). Does proper operation resume?
i. Yes: Issue resolved.
ii. No: Replace the timer.
