PHILOSOPHY AND THEOLOGY COURSES
All seminarians of the Lorenzo Mission Institute take their courses at the San Carlos Seminary Philosophy and Theology Departments. In Philosophy, they are obliged to follow the courses offered each semester to fulfill both requirements stipulated by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the requirements they need to proceed to Theology and the Priesthood. Seminarians have to take Philosophy Subjects in 4 years time to complete a Degree of Bachelor of Arts Major in Philosophy.
Once a seminarian reaches theology, he has to take a specific academic track in Missiology. Once a seminarian completes his theology, he may obtain a Degree of Masters in Theology Major in Missiology. He will be taking the fundamental courses in Dogmatic Theology, Moral Theology, Liturgy, Canon Law, History, and Pastoral Theology. However, the courses he will take under the Missiology track will be an imperative to the seminarian in preparation for ordination and mission are the following: Introduction to Missiology, Biblical Foundations of Mission, Inculturation, Developments in Mission, Theology of Religions, Missiological Anthropology, Missionary Spirituality, and Theology of Mission.
For seminarians who had completed a course or a degree in the universities which is not a Bachelor of Arts Major in Philosophy has to take at least 24 units of Philosophy to prepare him with the fundamental requirement courses for theology and at the same time to acquaint him with the discipline that will dispose him for theology.
For seminarians who freshly completed the K-12 subjects and had graduated thereof, they have to undergo a year of orientation and adjustment to seminary life which is called the "Propadeutic Stage." There will be courses for him to offered like Dynamics of Spiritual Direction, Orientation to Seminary Life, Prayer and Spirituality.
For seminarians entering Lorenzo Mission Institute who graduated from a previous seminary will usually enroll philosophy courses.
