History Theatre Performances

Pre-recorded performances are $150

Live (virtual) performances are $300

Optional Question and Answer "Talk-Back" sessions with Curator of Public Programs are $30

Optional Question and Answer "Talk-Back" sessions with the Actor and Curator of Public Programs are $50


Scholarships are Available! 

Admissions Scholarships are available!! 

Scholarships cover 100% of the cost to your organization - please inquire at education@missionhouses.org, call 808.447.3918 or just indicate you are interested in a scholarship on your Virtual Tour Booking Form 


These scholarships are provided by state grant support of these programs and by direct contributions from caring individuals - in other words, the community is gifting the access to these programs for your classroom!

Virtual School Tours in ‘ōlelo Hawaiʻi

A good choice for dual language and immersion classrooms, many of the activities can be led in ‘ōlelo Hawaiʻi  or in English. HMH offers tours  where the content is told from multiple perspectives about the lives of people who lived and interacted here. If you are interested in a Hawaiian language program, please use the same booking form and select the options for activities available in ‘ōlelo Hawaiʻi.

History Theatre Portrayals with Curriculum (Popular!)

Tours can be given in ‘ōlelo Hawaiʻi  or in English. HMH offers tours  where the content is told from multiple perspectives about the lives of people who lived and interacted here. Specialty tours offer in-depth information about the architecture, history, and embedded Hawaiian cultural belief systems of the site.

General Information

Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic Site and Archives

The Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic Site and Archives, or Hawaiian Mission Houses (HMH) includes three restored houses, two of which are among the oldest Western-style houses still-standing in Hawai`i. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1965 and was accredited by the American Alliance of Museums in 1972.

The vision of Hawaiian Mission Houses Historic Site and Archives is to enrich the community by fostering thoughtful dialogue and greater understanding of the missionary role and impact on the history of Hawai’i.

About the School Programs, Curriculum and the Education Resource Center Website

Inquiry-based content follows Department of Education benchmarks with special attention to College, Career and Civic Life (C3) Framework for State Social Studies Standards, including: Hawaiʻi’s history, particularly between 1820-63; interactions between aliʻi, makaʻāinana, and missionaries; architecture of Western style houses and hale pili; cultural practices of building a hale pili; children’s lives and activities in the 19th century; shelter; clothing; cultures meeting; why foreigners came to Hawaiʻi; perspective through music; and more.
