Reading: The students will finish up our book called Grace in Unit 6. We will use all that we have learned as we read the last few stories. We will take the test during individual meetings where the children will read a story, answer comprehension questions, and identifying words read by the teacher.

Writing: We are continuing with imaginative narratives. The children will use all they have learned about writing a paragraph with an opening, details, and a closing. They will write stories using their imagination that have a beginning middle and end. This week we will imagine that one of your toys came to life.

Math: This week we are continuing Unit 11 where the children will be subtracting tens and ones to a 2 digit number. We will use similar strategies learned while adding tens and ones to a 2 digit number. The strategies we have studied include making a ten using a model of ten sticks and cubes or drawing ten sticks and circles. We also studied using an open number line to add with skip counting with +10 jumps, +5 jumps, +2 jumps, and +1 jumps. Encourage your child to use these tools when solving math problems.
