The aim of this course is not only to build fluency in reading Latin but also to cultivate a literary appreciation as well. All elements of poetry and/or prose are introduced. A major emphasis is placed on perfecting the student’s ability to translate and critically analyze selected literature from the Latin authors including but not limited to Ovid, Pliny, Martial and Cicero. Roman history and philosophy are major components of this course.
