VISUAL LITERACY in FILM I

In this introductory art and critique course students will learn the building blocks of film design. The first term will focus on the composition of the frame and the elements filmmakers use to successfully achieve their artistic intent. Term 2 will focus on topics which include: Storytelling, Acting/Movement, Sound/Editing, and Production Design. Students will develop the tools to describe, analyze, and evaluate films so that they can better understand, interpret, and engage with media. Classwork involves watching, discussing, and analyzing film through writing, presenting, and hands-on projects.
