Integrated Math IA

INTEGRATED MATH IA   College Prep 29302

5 credits

Prerequisite: Grade 8 Math (Approval by the Math Director required)

In this course, just as in Integrated Math I, students will deepen and extend their understanding of the algebraic, geometric, and statistical concepts addressed in 8th grade and the materials come from the Illustrative Mathematics curriculum. However, the content of the Integrated Math I course is broken up over two years into Integrated Math IA (9th grade) and Integrated Math IB (10th grade). Therefore, these two courses are intended only for students who have significant gaps in foundational concepts and skills from middle school.

This first part of the course includes one complete (Linear Equations and Inequalities; Two-Variable Statistics) and one partial ( ) unit of Algebra I and two complete units (Constructions and Rigid Transformations; Congruence) of Geometry from the Illustrative Mathematics curriculum.

Emphasis in this course is placed in three critical areas: (1) deepening and extending understanding of linear relationships; (2) applying linear models to data that exhibit a linear trend; and (3) establishing criteria for congruence based on rigid motions.
