Integrated Math I

INTEGRATED MATH I   College Prep 29301 Honors 29401

5 credits

Prerequisite: Grade 8 Math

In both versions of this course, students will deepen and extend their understanding of the algebraic, geometric, and statistical concepts addressed in 8th grade. Course materials come from the Illustrative Mathematics curriculum and include four of the Algebra 1 units (One-Variable Statistics; Linear Equations, Inequalities, and Systems; Two-Variable Statistics; and Functions) and three of the Geometry units (Constructions and Rigid Transformations; Congruence; Coordinate Geometry).

Emphasis in both versions of this course is placed in six critical areas: (1) deepening and extending understanding of linear relationships; (2) applying linear models to data that exhibit a linear trend; (3) synthesizing understanding of functions; (4) creating and solving equations and inequalities involving linear expressions; (5) establishing criteria for congruence based on rigid motions; and (6) using a rectangular coordinate system to verify slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines.
