APPLIED MATHEMATICS   College Prep 23310

5 credits

Prerequisite: Algebra II (or with approval from the Math Director)

In this course, students will encounter the algebraic, geometric, and statistical concepts addressed in the preceding courses (Integrated Math I, Integrated Math II, and Algebra II) within the context of real-world situations. Course materials are aligned to the Financial Algebra course designed and published by N.G.P.F. (Next Gen Personal Finance) and include units on taxes, checking, savings, investing, and insurance aligned to the mathematical concepts needed to understand these real-world ideas (e.g. linear and exponential equations, systems of equations, probability). The mathematical concepts addressed in this course may not match to what is required of some students who are intending to pursue a four year college degree immediately after graduating high school.
