Prerequisite: Introduction to Business I

This course provides opportunities to learn and experience a variety of topics in the areas of Entrepreneurship and Small Business.  Business II is a semester-long course providing students with an extension of topics from the prerequisite course, Introduction to Business.  Students will leverage several of the concepts covered in Introduction to Business and apply them to Entrepreneurship and Small Business situations. Specifically, we will cover business concepts such as entrepreneurial mindset, entrepreneurial challenges, mission/vision statements, goal setting, marketing mix, target market, economic utility,  pricing strategies, advertising, promotion, financing strategies, financial statements, and break-even / return-on-investment analysis. These concepts will be applied to four areas of Entrepreneurship and Small Business:

Course activities will focus on Total Participation Techniques to engage all learners in the classroom.  Students will utilize various resources to research, problem-solve, and demonstrate a strong understanding of the topics.  The course will be heavily focused on real world application of the material through project-based activities.

To supplement the course activities, we will have several class guests throughout the semester to provide real-world examples of local entrepreneurs, small business owners, real estate investors, and franchise owners.
