Aloha,
Welcome to Team Ne’epapa. The information in this booklet will help students and parents to understand the rules, consequences, supports and procedures that we, the teachers, consider important to our students.
Team Vision: Positively Moving Forward in Unity
Our team name means “moving and working together in unison.” In order to do this, we will apply the 7 habits of Team Ne’epapa:
Be Proactive (I am responsible for my choices.)
Begin with the End in Mind (Have a plan.)
Put First Things First (Work first, then Play!)
Think Win-Win (Sharing the spotlight!)
Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood (Listen and Think before Speaking!)
Synergize (Together is Better!)
Sharpen the Saw (Taking care of yourself.)
(As quoted from Sean Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens)
These 7 habits are drawn upon in order for each team member to continuously improve upon his/herself so that together we can all make meaningful connections, further our understanding of the world, and be successful contributors.
Our goal is to foster self-directed learners. The transition from sixth to seventh grade will be an adjustment. Practicing the 7 habits will help guide students to successfully move forward.
Students are expected to read for a minimum of 30 minutes every day and it is highly recommended.
Assigned work is expected to be completed by the due date. Parents are encouraged to review their child’s work before submitting. Some assignments like projects will have extended due dates that will be clearly notated in the planner or project packet. Students who continuously fail to complete their work will have their parents/guardians contacted. Any make-up work will need to be done in a week’s time to earn credit.
All students are required to have Technology Responsible Use Guideline form signed. The (TRUG) form will determine consequences for improper use. Students will display proper care and use of the technological devices. Misuse of the technological devices will result in loss of privileges.
Team information will be shared on our site. Students will need to check the site daily. Parents should review to support their child's learning.
This App will allow parents to receive important team announcements.
Ne'epapa 7 code: @mms7c (Text code to 81010 or go to the site rmd.at/mms7c)
All students will receive a Mid-Term Progress cover sheet for the six core classes. Core 1 teachers will be collecting the progress reports for their Core 1 students. Progress can be checked online through Infinite Campus at any time. On Infinite Campus, reports will show a student’s progress thus far, but are by no means a final mark for the term.
Students requesting work because of trips will receive credit for the work done up until the absence, but will receive an incomplete grade for all assignments missed during the absence. Students must make up the work when they return. If there is time before the term ends, students will be expected to do so at that time. If the term has ended, students will receive an incomplete for the term and will need to make up their missing work in order to change the grade. Please inform the school office in writing prior to your trip.
Every student needs to have a Mililani Middle School Planner .
Every student will write his/her assignments in black or blue ink.
Parents should monitor/check the Planner and Google Site to help their child keep track of his/her homework assignments.
Each day, students need to bring the following: paper, pen (blue or black), wooden pencil, highlighters, eraser, and planner.
No sharing of school supplies.
Must stay in the assigned seat.
Cell-phones and smart watches should be turned off and in a backpack.
Ask the teacher for permission to use the bathroom. To make contact tracing easier, a log of bathroom visits will be kept by the teacher. Security will ensure social distancing and safety protocol.
Students are highly encouraged to wear masks at all times in the building to ensure the safety of everyone.
Wash and sanitize hands frequently.
Teachers reserve the right to evaluate the severity of each infraction, and will determine the consequences that they deem necessary. These may include:
A reminder
Behavior reflection (Refer to 7 habits)
Conference with student and if need be, removal from class
Parent contact
Referral to counselor or administrator
Chapter 19 infractions will result in immediate referral to an administrator. Please go over the Chapter 19 rules and MMS rules in your child’s planner.
