Dear Milan Elementary Families,
We’ve had a wonderful first week of school! It has been great to see our teachers and students back in the building, learning and growing together. This week, classes spent time reviewing our Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) expectations and began practicing the 7 Habits as part of our Leader in Me focus.
Next week, we will begin practicing our safety drills. Students will also review ALICE safety information during their specials classes to help them be prepared and confident in the event of an emergency. Please know we take these precautions seriously to keep all of our Wildcats safe.
As we kick off the fall sports season, we also want to remind families about expectations at after-school events. If your child is attending a ball game, they must be accompanied by an adult. School rules and expectations still apply at these events. Students should not be running around or playing—our focus is on supporting and cheering for our Milan athletes.
For daily arrival, please remember that students should enter through the playground doors each morning. The front main entrance will remain locked.
We are also in year 2 of our 4-year CEP grant, which allows all students to eat both breakfast and lunch at no cost. This is a wonderful opportunity to ensure every student is ready to learn each day.
Finally, a reminder that students are not allowed to have cell phones or smart watches out during school hours. These items must remain put away so they do not interfere with learning.
Thank you for your support in making this a positive and successful start to the school year. We are excited for all that is ahead!
With Wildcat Pride,
Ashley Hoerrmann
