My profile
Karishmah Purmah (PGCE P/T – 2021 – Art & Design)
I am Karishmah Devi Purmah. I am an art educator and experimental artist who looks for different materials to experiment on. Fond of makeup, I produce artworks reflecting makeup during recent years. I always love to explore through my experimentation, for example, now I am exploring like adding makeup itself to my artworks. However, I experimented a lot with natural and different substances like paint, salt, sand, wood varnish, ink, tea, potassium permanganate and others. For me, art is a way to escape from my daily life routine, as if to break the monotony routine through the artworks that I produce. I transfuse the art learned to her students and the love for art is growing enormously within me day by day.
CONCEPT: Camouflage
Camouflage is the word that shows how people are adept in change regarding appearance through makeup; it is about how people disguise for a new look to move along with the new trend. It is true that the trends keep on changing and changing over time. For example, it can be a makeover of the hair, face, clothes, plastic surgery and so on. I have focused my project on this direction because I want to show how these disguises, these changes have become the trend of nowadays and how people are evolving with this and are accepting it without any issue /taboo. People are not even bothering about changes in the appearance of people and are accepting the change today in the society whereby people are showing respect to these changes. However, camouflage helps to mask identity in society and has got lots of benefits also; for example, it keeps one confident to build self-esteem, enhance the appearance, makes people look perfect in their photos, can get a better complexion when one use makeup. Therefore, I must highlight the fact that makeup has got lots of benefits.
However, in my project, I have used flashy colours to show how colours play an important role in makeover and how people are loving to apply colours all over the body, the hair and are adept at physical changes. I have focused my artworks in three directions, namely: ‘the plastic girl’, the ‘bright lipstick’ and ‘before and after. These are the three titles of each of my artworks for my camouflage project.

My Overall Reflection
The subject didactic three modules helped me a lot to enhance my teaching skills in my classrooms through innovative ideas and encouraged me to look for innovative strategies to include in my lesson plan as a teacher. This module helped me to grow and shaped me as a teacher in my subject area and helped me to become a great teacher. I have learned about doing lesson plans in a professional manner with all the learning objectives and innovative teaching strategies and so on. Moreover, I got the opportunity to learn about 21st - century skills which I did not know when I started working as a teacher. I started to grow and develop different skills; for example, I started knowing and observing how children are visual learners and how they grasp knowledge when the 21st - century skill is applied. I got the opportunity to share my experience with peers also and got the opportunity to discuss respective topics and learn through sharing of experiences.
Additionally, as a teacher, I got the opportunity to master my communication skill which is the main aspect for a teacher on transferring information to learners. I must highlight the fact that teaching art today has become very challenging due to this covid 19 pandemic, but still, for a teacher, the 21st - century skills learned during the course is helping a lot about how to use software and so on and how to communicate to my learners so that the learning outcomes is attained. However, this module gave me the opportunity to do research on artists and peers shared our research where we got the opportunity to learn on different artists which I did not know before and I found it very interesting which I will teach to my learners later.
