The Visual Arts Department offer a wide range of professional development training to educators, both in-service and pre-service. The blend of content and pedagogical content knowledge empowers educators to become competent in providing quality teaching to the new generators of learners in developing their artistic knowledge and skills.

Members of the Department - The teaching Staff
I am Academic-Artist. I am Senior Lecturer and shouldering the responsibilities as the Head of the Visual Arts Department. I had been teaching in the Secondary sector for more than 12 years. I joined MIE in 2011 and I am collaborating imperiously towards the advancement of the teaching and learning Art and Design.
With a Degree and a Masters in the field of Visual Arts, I joined the MIE in 2008. I have been involved in teacher education for various levels: pre-primary, primary and secondary. I have been also heavily involved in curriculum development as coordinator for a number of textbooks for the primary and secondary level. My area of interest and study for research resides within my area of expertise, that is, Art and Design Education: teaching and learning of Art and Design at the primary and secondary level, teacher training for Art Education as well as the role of ICT in the teaching and learning of Art and Design. As an Artist, my practice revolves around digital works, photography and ceramics.
I joined the MIE after teaching Art and Design in secondary schools for more than one decade. My area of interest is Fine Arts, Special Education Needs and technology
I am Brinda Booputh, Lecturer in the Visual Arts Department at MIE. Holder of Diploma in Fine Arts, Bachelor’s degree with Education in Fine Arts, Post Graduate Certificate in Visual Arts, Master’s degree with Educational Leadership and Management, Post Graduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (ongoing). Teaching experience - 13 years at the Secondary School level. Member of Group of Mauritian artists “r`Zot “Save Art Group of artists, an active member of Carpe Diem NGO, Artediem, Member of the group of International female artists “International Women`s Federation”.
