Letter from Principal Lundquist

Dear Mount Horeb High School Students and Families,

I am pleased to introduce the Mount Horeb High School Course Selection Handbook for the 2024-2025 school year. This handbook serves as a comprehensive guide to assist students and families in navigating the course selection process, a crucial step in shaping the academic journey and future of our students.

I am Cody Lundquist, and I am honored to serve as the Principal of Mount Horeb High School. It is my pleasure to welcome both returning and new students and their families to a school community that values academic excellence, personal development, and future-focused planning.

One of the key elements of this handbook is the emphasis on developing, updating, and tweaking a thoughtful and strategic four-year plan. A four-year plan is not merely a list of classes; rather, it is a dynamic roadmap that reflects a student's unique interests, strengths, and aspirations. It lays the foundation for a well-rounded education and provides direction for future endeavors, including post-secondary education and career goals.

In today's fast-paced and ever-changing world, students need to approach course selection with a deliberate focus on their long-term plans. Whether a student envisions pursuing a college degree, entering the workforce directly, or exploring alternative pathways, the courses they choose now will play a pivotal role in shaping their future.

Our dedicated team of educators, counselors, and staff is committed to supporting each student in crafting a personalized four-year plan that aligns with their individual goals and aspirations. We encourage open communication between students, parents, and our school community to ensure that the course selection process is a collaborative and well-informed endeavor.

Within the pages of this handbook, you will find detailed information about our diverse course offerings, graduation requirements, and valuable resources to aid in the decision-making process. I encourage you to take the time to explore these materials and engage in meaningful conversations with your students to guide them in making informed choices.

Thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of being a part of your student's educational journey. Together, as a united school community, we will empower our students to thrive academically and prepare for the opportunities that lie ahead.

I look forward to a successful and rewarding academic year filled with growth, achievement, and the pursuit of excellence.

All the best,

Cody Lundquist
