His wife was Elizabeth Hamilton who was a key source of loyalty and she defended Hamilton's legacy. She was very involved in philanthropy and she also raised money for the Washington Monument.
Elizabeth and Hamilton had 8 kids together One of their kids was named Philip. Philip got killed in a duel which is supposedly why when Hamilton was in a duel with Burr he didn't try to shoot him which is how he died.
Since Hamilton had many achievements during his life a broadway play was written about him called Hamilton. The play was a hit and won awards in 2015, 2016, Drama Desk Award, Publizity Prize, Drama, and Best Musical. He was recognized for his intelligence and for being a good writer. Hamilton was a democratic-republican while Jefferson was a federalist, so both of them had different ideas about politics. The rivialry between Jefferson and Hamilton caused disruption between the Found Fathers.
His parents weren't married before he was born. His father abandoned him and his mom in 1766. His mom soon died in 1768. Alexander Hamilton served in the revolutionary war. Soon George Washington promoted him to Lieutenant Colonel. Had way more responsibilities than he did before. He was the first secretary of state. Hamilton served as one of New York's delegates to the Constitutional Convention at Philadelphia in 1787. Hamilton campaigned for the constitution. Hamilton played a key role in ratifying the constitution. When he was the first secretary of treasury, he built a financial foundation for the new country. Him and Thomas Jefferson had a big rivalry. In 1804, he was killed in a duel by Aaron Burr. 3 years earlier his first born son was also killed in a duel by trying to defend his fathers honor against attacks by New York lawyer George Eacker.
