Leadership Attributes is a personal development path that discovers students’ leadership skills. These are the leadership competencies designed by a team of educational specialists. The competencies—which students choose personally to work on and reserve time for—can be found in AYO.
Student leadership is taking ownership of one's growth and empowering others, as it provides self-development through impactful collaboration.
Mesquite ISD campuses and teachers provide numerous and diverse opportunities where students are developed as leaders inside and outside of the classroom.

Guided by AYO and meaningful feedback from teachers, the student will enhance leadership skills using a three-pronged approach. The goal is for students to evolve to become a better leader of themselves; a more effective leader of others; and a motivated leader of change. This is called the maturity framework.
